NIGERIA MUST PLAN HOW TO MANAGE THE ENERGY OF HER YOUTHS - Nwaogu

Nigeria must plan how to manage the enormous energy of her youths who make up over 60% of the population of the country, this was the message passed today by Mr Chinenye Nwaogu at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja during the formal launch of N Power Batch C Steam 1. Mr Nwaogu who spoke on behalf of the 36 State Focal Persons including the FCT used the occasion to call the attention of the Federal Government to the unimaginable plight of Nigerian youths who are faced with myriads of challenges. Mr Nwaogu however thanked President Buhari for sustaining and expanding the N Power Programme to accommodate more unemployed youths in the country. Mr Nwaogu said the beneficiaries of the programme in the past had utilised the allowances to improve their lives while some started small businesses. He called for more poverty reduction programmes to address the serious hardship faced by Nigerians.

*THE NEED FOR THE EXTABLISHMENT OF THE ISIALA NGWA NORTH DIASPORIAN OFFICE!THE CHINWENDU OCHULOR'S PHENOMENON*

The significance and relevance of Diasporians cannot be ignored because of the huge remittances they send back home to their families, contributing immensely to the infrastructural and real estate development of the country.

This the Federal government observed and created a Diaspora Office at the Federal level, in his wisdom also our Governor replicated same, thus the obvious need for us to localize ours in Isiala Ngwa North.

The Diasporian office would create an enabling environment for Ndi Isiala Ngwa North Abroad to feel belonged to the Government of the day, this would also create an official communication and interface between the Government of the day and our brothers and sisters living in all parts of the world, hence, the L.G.A Chairman cannot be handy to respond to everyone individually.

The Isiala Ngwa North Diaspora Office will be a landing pad for Diasporians who would want to have reliable information about the Local Government and the Government of the day.

The office Will help galvanize the Diasporians, assemble them to a platform and have constant discussions regarding what and how best they could reach out to our people at home.

As the name implies, it is meant to be a self running Office that will have zero financial burden to the LGA lean treasury.

The Isiala Ngwa North Diasporian office will Create a veritable opportunity for all living outside the country to feel inclusive and subsequently begin alleviating the plight of our people through voluntary and selfless donations, programs and training.

It is on record that the administration of Elder Chinwendu Victor Ochulor stands out to be the first to have thought outside the box strategically to establish a Diaspora Office in the council, an area that hitherto other administrations has not considered.

"Approval is payment, but".
- Sir G.C Onyedilefu

By Okechukwu Charles

The former Accountant General of Abia State, who was also the immediate past Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sir. G. C Onyendilefu has said that approval is payment, but depending on several factors.

He reasoned that the signature of the signing authority ought to be transmuted to cash, however adding that timing is key.

Onyendilefu explained that one of the cardinal jobs of an accountant is the judicious allocation of scarce resources, saying that many contending needs are in the habit of chasing limited resources.

"Paddy and Charles, you see, anyone telling you that approval is not payment is being economical with truth. In the first instance, what will bring you to the table of the accountant if you don't have an approval", he stressed.

Sir Onyendilefu, who said this during a breakfast chat with Paddy Anyatonwu and Charles Okechukwu cautioned that the public should be patient with public servants as they are there to serve them.

AG, as he is fondly called, narrated how his tenure as the Accountant General of the State harvested more enemies than friends, who never understood the huge challenges of appropriating the scarce resources of the state and as well as being directed by the Chief Executive Officer of the State, saying that approval is payment but only if it is been subjected to the availability of funds at hand.

Said he, " You must learn how to manage people and at all times with a view of packaging your principal. Many things happen after the approval has been given to you. Put slightly differently, your principal is infallible.
He can't do any wrong. It is your job to clean the Augean's stable.

He further narrated that life after holding such offices has also given him time to re-access and reclaimed his lost friends, whom he may have lost in the course of his service.

2023: I Will Be Neutral In The Decision Of Who Succeeds Me As Governor – Ikpeazu

Hon. Ugo A

Abia state Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has said that he will be neutral in the decision of who succeeds him as governor in 2023.

He explained that in 2015, nobody gave him a chance to emerge as Governor, but God made it happen, stressing that power is a serious matter that God will not leave it entirely in the hands of men.

The Governor who stated this in an interview in Aba, however, disclosed that he will prefer a successor who has passion, humility and selflessness to enable him create a platform that will engender participation from all kinds of people including the youth, women, disabled and downtrodden.

He prayed for a successor who will build on his legacies, mean well for the state and do better than he has done in his tenure.

“The question of who succeeds me in 2023 resides entirely within the purview of God, but every man in my position will pray to get a successor who will sustain his legacies and mean well for the people of the state and also do better than I have done. I will want to see a successor that has sufficient passion, not self centred and sufficiently humble to create a platform that will engender participation from all kinds of people; the lame, the blind, the youth, the woman, the downtrodden and all the people. And for it to happen, I’m trusting and believing in what God can do. At all times as Governor, I try to emphasize some virtues and traits that I think we need to grow to move forward. I will not want to be in a place where I will literally determine who will be governor, I won’t do that because I know I cannot because mine is a divine mandate. Nobody gave me a chance, but God made it happen. So, God can also raise somebody. Power is such a serious matter that God will not leave it entirely in the hands of men.

While praying for what he described as fair weather in 2023, Ikpeazu stated that he will do his best to be in a position to have the conscience to appeal to God to do the needful about his successor.

“Maybe, if I have expectations, let it happen, but I will be sufficiently neutral such that I will be able to accept whatever decision God makes the outcome. I have spent time in my lodge in Aba, it is a three bedroom apart. I don’t know how many governors can reside in this kind of place. But I stay here because I want to keep my eyes on the fact that I’m the Governor today, but I will not be the Governor tomorrow. I won’t take myself too far away from how I live my life. I will work hard to the point that somebody coming after me will find it difficult to operate unless he is running on this same lane.”

Asked whether he will be running for the Senate in 2023, the Governor disclosed that he is faced with three options of returning to the classroom as a lecturer, learning how to make shoes as a student of the Aba Footwear Academy and listening to his people’s decision on his political future.

HON. CHIJIOKE CHUKWU: A CASE OF A BUTTERFLY FEELING LIKE A BIRD.

Chijioke Chukwu is a beginner as this is his first political outing, so I can not join issues with him.

My position on the Umunneato Ngwa people producing the next Governor of Abia State is based on equity and fairness and it remains our stand.

2. In my interview I was very clear, I said...“If PDP gives their Governorship ticket to Abia North, who will do the voting?” I did not refer to the Old Bende people as a whole as we have three other Local Governments of the Old Bende Division in Abia Central.

3. My reason for that is very simple; since 2015, PDP has not won the election in Abia North. So no party that wants to win an election takes their ticket to an area where they have a weak support base.

4. I never canvassed that one of us should be Governor, but that does not suggest there are no qualified Members of the House of Assembly from Umunneato Ngwa who can be Governor in 2023.

5. It is morally wrong for Hon. Chijioke to criticize Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for non-performance, because he has performed creditably well. He needs to remove the log in his eyes so he can see clearly to remove the one in another person's eyes.

6. Chijioke is also elected just as the Governor, let him show us his achievements/scorecards so far in the last 2years we have spent as I have always made mine public.

7. Chijioke swore that Orji Kalu's brother must win the Aba Ngwa Federal Constituency election and I told him it will "NEVER" happen, and both of us relocated to Aba the same day and in the end, we won them landslide. Ever since then, he has not been happy with me which does not bother me at all.

8. Anyone who knows me very well can testify that I am a sworn enemy of deceit and double standard; these all my colleagues in the House can testify.
I am very much aware Chijioke is trying to impress his paymasters who just elevated him to Minority leader of the House and it is understandable too.

9. I still maintain that Umunneato Ngwa should be supported to produce the next Governor of Abia State without regrets championing the course.

10. Finally, let me remind us that since 1999, no part of this State has been conceded a Governorship position, it has always been by struggle.

Our people will struggle for the Governorship position come 2023.

Sir Ginger O. Onwusibe
Member, Abia State House of Assembly,
Isiala Ngwa North Constituency.
