In response to Governor Oyebanji's directive to engage key stakeholders in the trade and commerce sector of the state, particularly commodity and food sellers, the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives headed by Mrs Tayo Adeola ,engaged leaders of market associations, transport unions, and other businesses in the state ,yesterday .

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the persistent increase in commodity prices in the state , especially food commodities and to identify effective solutions to alleviate the burden on the people of Ekiti.

During the discussions, it became evident that the cost of commodities in the state is significantly higher compared to some other neighboring states, prompting stakeholders to recognize the need for urgent action to address this issue.

Consequently, a task force comprising representatives from markets, transport unions, and other businesses was set up to oversee compliance with the agreed measures . The task force will be responsible for conducting regular inspections of markets and major selling points to ensure adherence to the agreed guidelines ,especially in Ado Ekiti markets .

Rev Fr Anokwuru Chris Uche and Harbingers of Alex Otti's Stewardship of Hardship

By Michael Nwabueze

The Catholic priesthood is insulated from partisan politics. This is why any priest who feels strongly enough about participating in partisan politics has his Faculties suspended by his Local Ordinary, the Bishop of his diocese, and cannot celebrate Mass for people or carry out such other priestly functions until such a time he returns back to the fold from his foray into partisan politics.

The reason for the above policy by the Catholic Church is because partisan politics by its nature and practice is divisive and has the capacity to erode the unity, harmony and brotherhood of her members who are people of diverse political leanings.

In that case, the Church considers her priests as unifying agents needed by society to pull together straying brethren possibly schismatised by political affiliations.

This does not in any way strip the priest of one of its primary functions of holding leaders accountable at all levels. In doing this, the priest must avoid the slippery and dangerous path of partisanship so he can continue to be a credible harbinger of peace, love and unity to God's people.

This is where Revd Fr Anokwuru Christian Uche of the Catholic Diocese of Umuahia and Provost of Madonna College of Health Education, Olokoro, Umuahia, has failed God, the Church and the people. His participation in Abia politics is not only aggressively partisan, it also reeks of brashness, bitterness and malice, vices that are deeply against his priestly calling. He has turned himself and reduced his elevated sacerdotal status to that of Alex Otti's 'otimkpu'.

It is so bad that he has chosen to strip himself of his priestly title of 'Revd Fr' because of the contradictions between his priestly calling and his self-appointed function of being a 'Lai Mohammed' to Alex Otti.

In his latest intervention wherein he mischievously congratulated Alex Otti in advance in view of the upcoming Supreme Court judgement to determine the true winner of the last governorship election in Abia State, Revd Fr Anokwuru Christian Uche deceitfully expunged his 'Revd Fr' title from his name obviously because he was aware that his essay was so partisan and laden with his usual divisive postulations that it was not fitting to be associated with a 'Revd Fr'.

Anokwuru's relentless voyage of mischief, malice and mendacity has become his trademark to the extent that he is now synonymous with them.

It would have even been bearable if the government Anokwuru so brazenly exalts is one that practices the Christian virtues of fortrightness, sincerity, transparency, accountability, prudence, compassion and care for the people which he is supposed to be promoting.

How can a Catholic priest be hanging around a governor who appropriated a whopping sum of over N5bn to himself in the name of Governor's Office just within three months, July - September 2023, even when he is running the Governor's office from his private residence, sacked over 10,000 Abia civil servants for no altruistic reason, spent a huge N397m on an amorphous welfare on non-existent entities, another spurious N927m on feeding of government officials and their friends, all within the very short period of just three months, July - September 2023?

Conversely, Alex Otti spent a paltry N25m on public schools in the entire state just as he spent another paltry sum of N737m on education generally, and another miserly N1.12bn on health. All within the same period.

This is the character a Catholic priest has 'defrocked' himself and compromised his cassock for just to sound politically correct.

Anokwuru is a typical example of that hood that does not make the monk and his attempt to impose an impostor on Abians through a mischievous 'congratulations' is an attempt to hoodwink the people and launder the image of his new paymasters who have imposed so much hardship on the people. But, as always, God is not a man, and only Him has the final say.

Communities Uncover Plan By Alex Otti To Establish RUGA Settlement, Wonders Why Ngwa Communities Are Being Paid With Bad Coin

The Lagos Branch of Umuovo la Ikaa has uncovered a conspiracy and the plot by Dr. Alex Otti led administration in Abia state to introduce dreaded strangers; the Fulani – Herdsmen to their ancestral home.

Shocked by the new development, the Lagos branch of the threatened three communities have sent an emotional appeal to the Governor of Abia state to have a rethink as his plan to situate a TRAILER PARK in their communities is ill advised and will not do any good to the people, but will rather bring sorrows, tears and blood.

The letter in part;

“We, the good of Umuovo la Ikaa people have just been informed, to our utmost chagrin, of a purported plan by Abia State Government to forcefully acquire over 9.5 hectares of an ancestral land belonging to some indigent families within our communities, for the purposes of establishing a TRIALER PARK, which is a way of introducing the dreaded Fulani – herdsmen in our land”.

The people believe that the large expanse of land, located at Umuvo, around former Basic Gas and near the Naval Base in Owerrinta, Isiala Ngwa South LGA owned by three communities is the source of livelihood for many families in the communities and will be tantamount to denying their people their farmland, and sustainability in the face of harsh economic reality in Nigeria.

“The proposed TRAILER PARK, at Umuvo is at a busy area in the heart of rural dwellers and in the central area of our community. There are so many dangers associated with this incursion into our community. Apart from displacing families from their natural and ancestral homes, the proposed park will occasion a lot of environmental hazards that will not augur well with our people” There are also tertiary institutions and a Naval base around the area, Adventist Secondary Technical School, Owerrinta, Convenant Polytechnic, Umuogbu – Owerrinta, Clifford University, Owerrinta campus and Nigeria Navy School, Owerrinta, all within the radius of the proposed trailer park.

“Therefore, a TRAILER PARK in our community is a TIME BOMB as it will transform our community into Hausa/Fulani settlement as we all know the atrocities going on at Umunneochi/ Lokpanta axis of the state and Eleme in Port Harcourt because of the establishment of trailer parks and the effort of both state government to deal with the crime and security issues associated with the TRAILER PARKS ”

“More so, a TRAILER PARK will bring kidnapping, prostitution, hard drug peddling, cattle grazing on peoples farms, robbery, killing and all kinds of crimes in the entire Isialangwa by the time it becomes operational ”

A renowned community Leader who spoke to reports says, he is still wondering why the state Government, knowing the activities of these blood letting goons, would think of bringing such characters again to Abia state, on a new site despite the havoc they are already causing at Lopanta, Umunnechi, where decaying dead bodies, bones, bodies with severed heads were recently discovered as confirmed by Your Excellency.

“Therefore, our people cannot contend with herdsmen menace. They cannot contend with the hostile lifestyle of their new strangers the government of Abia state wish to forcefully introduce to us . They cannot contend with the physical dangers associated with a TRAILER PARK. We therefore use this opportunity to ask that you use your good offices to discontinue any discussion, survey and activities planned or on – going at the site as our people are totally against this invasion ”

“With the dangers stated above, we are once again appealing to His Excellency to please remove this “Cancer” from our midst and take it back to any other location, with due cognisance of the environmental assessment and safety evaluation exercise”

Emeka Ezindu recall that, during the last governorship election, the people of Umuvo and Ikaa gave Otti our support, we are also a law abiding community. Our only plea is that, if the government of Abia state indeed deem this project extremely necessary, they should take it to a free area that is not inhabited or densely populated by the rural dwellers because of the dangers associated with it.

“Thanking you Sir, in anticipation of your kind “RETHINK” and withdrawal of this unhealthy disruption of our community, the letter concludes “.

Reacting, a community leader, Uzoma Nathan, from Umuvo village, wondered why despite their support to Otti during the last general elections, he is now paying the Ngwa communities with a bad coin. He urge the Governor to have a rethink unless you wishes to go into war with their communities.

Another community Leader, Earnest Jonah, frowned at the decision and warned that such action that will didplace them from their inheritance with the inherent dangers will be resisted as the communities are well prepared to tame the invaders.

Contributing, Chief Chidi Nwogu, from Owerrinta described the plot of Abia state Government as wicked, aimed to wipe away the communities and vowed to defend their people and warned the local people aiding Abia state government and their officials to weigh the consequences of their actions before it escalates into an uncontrollable war.

WHERE ARE THE FEEDING BOTTLES NOW?

*Sincerely, I dislike using certain phrases, most especially when it has become a cliche that sounds more like what a motor park tout coined. "Feeding bottle", "blood tonic" are few of such uncouth phrases.

*Therefore, using Otti's cliche of choice, I dare ask, where are the feeding bottles now?

*Under SFTAS, Abia State government released its Q3 budget performance for 2023.

*From July to September, just three months, a total of N8.12Bn has been spent on servicing the Governor's office and his security vote.

*When I was told that the Governor runs Abia from his country home at Nvosi, expectations are, that it will drastically reduce the cost of servicing the Governor's office but the amount of N5.32BN that we were greeted with by the government's own financial report under world bank SFTAS, is not only mind-boggling but a shocker, plus additional N2.8BN as security vote, making a cumulative of N8.12BN spent in 3 months around the Governor's activities (servicing his office and security vote). Where is the much talked about prudence?

*What is mere salary forfeiture as compared to the billions contained in the expenditure of servicing Governor's office and his security vote for just 3 months?

*Ebonyi State Governor is using N1.2Bn for servicing his office and security vote under same period, yet he hasn't claimed a "Saint".

*More revelations are coming as I piece the numbers to make sense of where exactly the feeding bottles are and in whose mouth. I will interrogate where exactly the N1.12bn on health subhead was expended on.

*REpainting of hospitals and one day medical outreach in LGAs without paying off backlogs of health worker's salaries couldn’t have consumed N1.12BN in 3 months.

Empathy should always DWARF Wickedness in Leadership

When I read online posts suggesting that Alex otti was nicknamed " Senior wicked " while in Ngwa High School, I chose to disbelieve it because till date I am yet to find someone in his set to corroborate it, otherwise, that would have explained a lot of things I am observing today under his watch in a state he calls " New Abia"

In the original Abia known to me, leaders show empathy and put the people first before any other thing. Indeed, in the original Abia, our Governors stop at accident scenes to help victims instead of knocking them down and speeding off. In that original Abia the voice of the people shape the position of government on all issues. If the people say they don’t want RUGA, their Governor will toe that line. I also recall that a Governor in tne original Abia canceled what was then tagged ‘COVID-19 fees’ in a state tertiary institution because the people protested against it.

Governors of the original Abia regularly come on live radio programs to speak and interact with the people no matter how busy they are and without any form of censorship. Whenever the people choose to protest to government house or wherever their Governor is at the time, he must come out to address them or send somebody high up to represent him. Where necessary, original Abia Governors will invite the protesters to come in and discuss their issues directly with him.

Local journalists in Abia who have now been relegated in the New Abia can testify to the frequency of such engagements in the original Abia and the usual instruction not to censor any view whenever their is a live interaction with the Governor. Eziokwu bu ndu!

Yesterday, I received detailed report from an aclaimed supporter of Peter Obi during the 2023 national elections and hence decided to vote for Otti and other labour party candidates in Abia State as a devout apostle of "OBIDIENCE” brand of politics. Sadly, this individual was among those sacked by Governor Alex Otti-led Labour Party Government in the New Abia.

Armed with the confidence that the Governor they stood in the sun to vote for will at least listen to their own side of the sack saga, dozens of them transported themselves to the Umuru Isiala Ngwa "new Abia government house" on Monday this week to meet their Governor who as a Labour Party member should naturally be expected to be sympathetic to workers.

Let me quote directly from this person.

“We went there, 26 of us came out.
We stood at the gate for the whole day.
Dr. Alex Otti was in a meeting with the commissioners. He runs Abia state affairs from his country home at Umu-uru Umuehim Nvosi reason our members insisted we go to his village.
But he didn't come out to see us nor addressed us.
He didn't even send someone to speak to us.
We all just stood there with our placards with inscription of humble and pleading words begging him to reinstate us.

“Later a man who we believed is his chief security officer came out and videoed us while on live call with someone we couldn't recognize his voice.
The man then asked us to write a letter and include the names of the participants present on ground and submit to him, which we did.
But we were banned from videoing, snapping or chanting any form of gyration songs etc.

“That security officer asked us to go, but we refused. We stood there in the rain till his meeting with the commissioners ended and they started driving out one by one. Then we knelt down with our placards pleading with them to help us as they drove pass us one by one in their brand new “INNOSON” JEEPS without plate numbers.

“They didn't show sympathy nor cared. Except for one of them who stopped, read our messages and then warned us not to escalate this movement or go to social media. Nwannem, that's how we carried ourselves back home in tears and confusion not knowing what tomorrow holds for us.

“Last night was the most terrifying night for me as I was reminiscing on the whole drama yesterday.
Sleep left my eyes and tears flowed freely”

In case you think this is another made up story of a suya seller and street light in Aba let me attach screen grabs to show you that this is real. Any conscientious journalist seeking additional information from the person that contacted me or others with him on that day can text me privately as long as you promise to protect them from the wickedness of empathetically dwarf leaders.

New Abia of elites for Abia elites fully loaded!!!

BREAKING: Tribunal Sacks Another Enugu Labour Party Rep Member

The Enugu State National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal on Friday, sacked Barr. Chijioke Okereke of the Labour Party as the House of Representatives member for Aninri/Awgu/Oji-River Federal Constituency.

The three-man panel led by The panel led by Justice Nusirat I. Umar declared Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu (Omeihe-Ukwu), the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, as the duly elected candidate of the February 25th, 2023 poll.

Engr. Onwuegbu had approached the tribunal challenging the declaration of Barr. Okereke on the grounds that he was a stranger to the election as he’s name isn’t on the result sheet as the candidate of the Labour Party.

The panel held that Okereke wasn’t a candidate for the election and accordingly, directed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to issue certificate of return to the PDP Candidate.

Recall that the name of former minority leader of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Toby Okechukwu appeared on the list published by INEC for the election. Also, his name appeared on the result sheet and not that of Okereke.

However, it could be recalled that Okereke had approached a High Court sitting in Enugu to claim the ticket of the Labour Party and a judgement was given in his favour after Hon. Okechukwu distanced himself from being a member of the Labour Party.

Okereke becomes the second member of the Labour Party to be sacked by the tribunal after Prof. Sunday Nnamchi representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency in Enugu State was replaced by Hon. Prince Cornelius Nnaji, the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, by a three-man panel led by A. M. Abubakar
