Peter Obi Won’t Get Labour Party Ticket In 2027; We Don’t Want Him Anymore –Lamidi Apapa’s Faction

The Lamidi Apapa faction of the Labour Party has said that the party's 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, should seek another political platform to pursue his presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 polls, adding that they do not want him in their party anymore.

Abayomi Arabambi, the faction's spokesman, said this in an exclusive interview with The PUNCH on Wednesday.

In the interview, Arabambi said Obi should not waste his time seeking an appeal against Tinubu's election.

“My advice is for him (Obi) to go and start preparing for 2027. But it has to be in another party, not in LP. We are not going to allow this kind of rascality to continue in 2027. We will look for a fresh candidate as far as we are concerned.

“Obi is free to go back to APGA to run, not Labour Party. We don’t want to continue accommodating a character who believes no other person, other than himself, has anything upstairs. He is not a good manager of human resources. That was why he lost woefully,” he said.

Apapa was certified the genuine National Chairman of the Labour Party by the Edo division of the Court of Appeal on August 14.

Edo Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu Begs Obaseki For Forgiveness

The deputy governor of Edo state, Philip Shaibu, has publicly begged for forgiveness from his principal, the governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki.

Shaibu begged for forgiveness on Thursday, September 21, while speaking with newsmen in Edo State.

He said: "We have resumed, there is no problem about it. The governor has asked us to go there and we are going. Like I always tell people, I am a loyal servant, I am a loyal servant, and there is nothing that has changed. I took a personal vow to support my governor and you can see my Catholic people are here. If I have a vow with God, there is nothing that will change it.

"I can only wish that that relationship that we have I pray I know in the next few days and weeks it will come back. I am missing my governor really, but by the grace of God I know, God will touch the governor's heart and touch all of us and even those who are trying to be in between God will touch them to know that I mean well.

"If there is any mistake that I have made as human it's just human it's not out of wickedness because I am not wicked, I have a very clean heart. I will use this medium to appeal to Mr. Governor, if there's anything that I don't know that I have done please forgive me so that we can develop our state together.

"We have just one year to go, we have been the envy of the entire country, it's still possible. So Mr. Governor, if there's anything you feel I have done, I am sorry. I need us to work together to finish well and strong because that is my prayer for you."

Billionaire’ Femi Otedola in a telephone interview, was asked by the radio presenter, "Sir what can you remember made you a happy man in life?"

Femi said: “I have gone through four stages of happiness in life and finally I understood the meaning of true happiness.

The first stage was to accumulate wealth and means. But at this stage I did not get the happiness I wanted.

Then came the second stage of collecting valuables and items. But I realized that the effect of this thing is also temporary and the lustre of valuable things does not last long.

Then came the third stage of getting big projects. That was when I was holding 95% of diesel supply in Nigeria and Africa. I was also the largest vessel owner in Africa and Asia. But even here I did not get the happiness I had imagined.

The fourth stage was the time a friend of mine asked me to buy wheelchair for some disabled children. Just about 200 kids.

At the friend's request, I immediately bought the wheelchairs. But the friend insisted that I go with him and hand over the wheelchairs to the children. I got ready and went with him.

There I gave these wheel chairs to these children with my own hands. I saw the strange glow of happiness on the faces of these children. I saw them all sitting on the wheelchairs, moving around and having fun.

It was as if they had arrived at a picnic spot where they are sharing a jackpot wining.

I felt real joy inside me. When I decided to leave one of the kids grabbed my legs. I tried to free my legs gently but the child stared at my face and held my legs tightly.

I bent down and asked the child: Do you need something else? The answer this child gave me not only made me happy but also changed my attitude to life completely.

This child said: “I want to remember your face so that when I meet you in heaven, I will be able to recognize you and thank you once again.

Court Stops DSS From Arresting And Detaining CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele For 60 days.

A federal high court sitting in Abuja has declined an application by the Department of State Services (DSS) to arrest and detain Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), TheCable understands.

In declining the motion ex parte — filed by an applicant in the absence of the respondent — Justice JT Tsoho, the chief judge, said the secret police did not provide any concrete evidence to substantiate its claims that Emefiele was involved in terrorism financing and economic crimes.

Sources at the high court told TheCable that the judge said he should have been taken into confidence if there was any evidence to back the allegations.

“The honourable judge also wondered why the name of the respondent was given simply as ‘Godwin Emefiele’ without a material disclosure that he is the same person as the CBN governor, a highly ranking public official who occupies an extremely sensitive position,” the source told TheCable.

The court said such an application should have been accompanied with the presidential approval because of the grave implications for the Nigerian economy if the CBN governor is arrested and detained.

There are suggestions that the bid to arrest Emefiele might be political given the impact the redesign of the naira and limit on cash withdrawals might have on vote-buying in the 2023 elections.

A number of politicians have complained that the naira redesign is targeted at them but President Muhammadu Buhari has given his full backing to Emefiele over the policy.

On Monday, a group of civil society organisations raised the alarm that there was a plot to frame Emefiele for terrorism and remove him from office.
