I May Not Patronise Nigerian Hospitals If Elected President - Atiku

Atiku Abubakar has said he may not rely entirely on Nigerian hospitals for personal healthcare if elected president in February.

“Health facilities that cater to my health may not be available.” Mr Abubakar said at the ongoing dialogue airing on AriseTV. “We have limitations; we know we have those limitations.”

Mr Abubakar’s response came when asked whether or not he would turn to the country’s medical establishments as president to set a clear leadership that deemphasises patronage of foreign hospitals by the country’s elite.

The former vice president and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party has lived in Dubai, the commercial hub of the United Arab Emirates, since the late aughts, only coming into the country for important holidays and political activities,

Peter Obi of the Labour Party said he would use Nigerian doctors if elected president, adding that available facilities would be improved to meet global standards.

Nigerians have long condemned the elite rush to foreign countries for medical care, a pattern attributed to the neglect of the country’s health sector. President Muhammadu Buhari has continued to travel abroad, mainly to the United Kingdom, to see his doctors.

Buhari Appoints Hairdresser As Boss Of Financial Institution - Lawyers Demand Sack

President Muhammadu Buhari appointed executive director of the Nigeria Export-Import (NEXIM) Bank, Stella Okotete, is currently facing backlash over her qualification for the position.

On Thursday, December 1,legal practitioners of the Lawyers For Justice Reform launched an appeal during a press briefing demanding the immediate removal of Okotete.

Aare Oladotun Hassan said: "Her relied well scripted and fraudulently concocted CV (Currently under scrutiny); which only has her records as a former Counsellor and beauty Salon Hairdresser and Spa Operator before her appointment to the most exalted position as the Executive Director of the apex financial institution regulating Nigeria's Exports and Imports Businesses: NEXIM BANK."

"In compliance with the Central Bank of Nigeria Act Regulations and Order 41(3) of the Senate Rule and by the reason for her lack of capacity not to have served in the banking service for 18 years and must have risen to the level of General Manager for two years, hence she is not fit and merit to continue to hold the Executive Director of the NEXIM BANK, we, therefore, call on President Muhammadu Buhari to act decisively accordingly."

Aisha Buhari Not Pregnant, Down With Ailment

Nigeria's First Lady, Mrs Aisha Buhari, is not expecting a baby but treating an undisclosed disease suspected to be cancer, multiple presidential sources revealed.

A presidential source on Monday told Sahara reporters that Aisha isn’t expecting a baby but down with an ailment.

He added that drugs being taken by the First Lady caused her to gain weight and also affected her shape.

“She’s not pregnant. She’s treating an undisclosed disease which is believed to be cancer. The drugs she’s taking had caused her to gain weight,” the source said.

Popular comedian, Mr Macaroni and singer, Falz have reacted to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s invitation for ‘A Walk for Peace.’

On Tuesday 30th November, Governor Sanwo called on notable celebrities such as Falz, Mr Macaroni, Seun Kuti and so on to join him for a peace walk while insisting that the state requires true healing following the protest that occurred last year.

2023: Nigeria May Break Up If APC Wins - PDP Chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said Nigeria may cease to exist if the All Progressives Congress (APC) wins 2023 presidential election. The party also seeks a strong opposition among opposition political parties in the country against misrule by the ruling party.

The PDP National Chairman- elect, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, who spoke when he received the leadership of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), said it is the duty of opposition parties to educate Nigerians that eight more years of APC will be disaster for the country.

He listed the maladministration of the APC government to include nepotism, mismanagement of the nation’s economy, accumulation of foreign debts, devaluation of the nation’s currency, etc., and said these were the issues PDP was tackling.

“Things have gone wrong and it is the responsibility of every political party to point them out and provide alternative ways of tackling them, and I believe that if we join hands together we will change this country to be better.

“Nigeria seems to have the worst currency in Africa (even) Somalia that is a failed state is doing better than Nigeria. Our currency is a free fall. That is because we are an import-dependent economy.

“The quality of lives of Nigerians is going down, N10,000 before APC took over is now a N100, 000. Our people cannot live a healthy, quality of life. “So, I charge all of you to strengthen Nigeria so that more voices will be speaking about that; it shouldn’t just be PDP,” Ayu advised.

Murder of Timothy Adegoke: Police Headquarters Abuja Take Over Case, Transfer Suspected Killer, Rahmon Adedoyin to Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force’s headquarters, Abuja, has directed the immediate transfer of investigation into the death of Timothy Adegoke, a master’s student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, which allegedly occurred at Hilton Hotels and Resort, Ile-Ife.

Already, the owner of the hotel, Chief Ramon Adedoyin and six workers in the facility had been arrested in connection with the death.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the state police command, Yemisi Opalola, said she had not been briefed on the matter.

However, a source close to the police command, who spoke on condition of anonymity on Friday, told the PUNCH Newspaper that a signal had been received from the Force Headquarters, asking that the matter be transferred.

Sequel to the order, the source said the suspects would be moved to Abuja any moment upon completion of necessary documentation.

The source said, “The command is not hiding anything. But we have been directed to transfer the matter and after necessary documentation is completed, the suspects will be moved to Abuja.”

In his reaction, Naim Adekilekun, the counsel to the Adegoke family, said he was told that Force Headquarters had taken over the investigation into the matter.

Adekilekun however demanded that the matter must be returned to Osun State Police command for its investigators to complete the probe into the death. He said, “I have been informed. But we don’t want the case transferred. It has to be transferred back.”

Meanwhile, counsel to Adedoyin, Mr Abiodun Williams, in his reaction to the development, said his client was innocent.

He said, “We are not bothered. Let the case be taken to anywhere. Chief Adedoyin is 101 per cent innocent. The officers in Abuja cannot do anything better than what Osun State Command had diligently done.”

PRIVATE JETS OWNERSHIP IN NIGERIA

A Boeing Business Jet, currently the one used by president Buhari cost $80M, while the other jets favoured by other private individuals like Dangote and Adenuga are the Gulfsream (400-500 series) which cost $45M.

Other planes used by our elites are Hawker Siddley,Bombadier Challenger 600 series,Global Express,Embraer Legacy and Falcons all depending on the deep pockets of the buyer.

The least price of this category is $35million.

Forbes magazine claimed that Nigerians spent $6.5Billion on planes in the past five years.

You will probably need a scientific calculator to get the Naira equivalent of that amount.

Between 2007 and 2012 demands for private jets by Nigerian class of the rich rose by 650 percent.

In year 2000 Nigeria had 20 private jets shared among the presidency,NNPC,Shell and few individuals.

That time Obasanjo and EFCC would sniff the accounts of any politician and business man that ventured to buy a plane.

This number has increased exponentially in many folds as corruption and easy money gained ground during Yar'adua administration and the Jonathan government that showed no interest in fighting corruption.

The result was an avalanche of expensive jets parked in the sun as status symbols of Nigeria's greedy and boisterous elite.

Early 2015 the Guardian reported a total number of private jets at 200 and still counting with new orders placed in US and Canada.

The figure is ten times the combined number of commercial air planes in the country.

There are presently only 20 operational commercial air crafts servicing the entire 200 million Nigerian public!

According to reports released by Bombardier Corporation of Canada, Nigeria is only behind US,China and Uk in placement of orders for private jets.

We can excuse US and China at least they are World's biggest economies and China has 300 billionaires and over 15000 millionaires,the highest concentration in the world. All of them made their money through real time investments and hard work.

Corruption in China attracts the death penalty while US punishes corruption with long jail terms. Both countries' laws respect no status.

Nigeria since Obasanjo has stopped punishing people with corrupt cases.

Poverty and unemployment are at epidemic and unacceptable levels now in Nigeria.

While Federal Bureau of statistics put graduate unemployment figure level at 50%, the Federal Ministry of Labour put it at 45%.

We don't know who to believe,Nigeria is notorious for inaccurate statistics.

The World Bank however put national unemployment figure at 56%, meaning that a population of 167million Nigerians will translate to 60 million jobless on count, the equivalent of the combined population of the entire countries in the sub-continent,lumping Benin,Togo,Ghana and Ivory coast together.

I think World Bank is being modest, actual unemployment could well be 80 percent.

Nonetheless they are grim statistics and a real threat to growth and national security.

Because our rich elites have no regards for cost saving, they care less about the monumental waste of maintaining a plane.

A private jet is a huge liability, costing money even when parked on idle ground.

It cost 20 times 1st class commercial jet ticket to travel to London compared to a single trip on private jet.

Private planes are not like cars that you can just enter and drive off to your destination.

To fly a plane you need all sorts of permits, ironically you cannot even taxi out of the hanger without permits which usually cost money.

Servicing a plane is something that needs an entire life savings to carry, usually done out of this country which takes weeks to complete and is highly regulated.

To service a plane you need checking,removal and replacement of components,usually plugs,oils and hydraulics,replacement of tires,plates,cylinders,compressors that must all conform to stringent regulation and a certificate must be issued to back it up.

Also there are the routine A check, B check, C check and D check depending on the aircraft cycle.

In case of D check which happens every 5 years, the entire plane is taken apart and is comprehensively subjected to rigorous overhaul that involved checking entire fulselage metal skin and possible replacement of engines.

This takes 40,000 man hours calculated at huge cost.

No cost of aircraft maintenance is calculated in Naira here!

So why all the trouble?

Answer is pure ego trip and the Nigerian mentality of personal competition and the usual inferiority complex.

The trajectory here is both wicked and ungodly to own a private jet in a land where frustration is written( in CAPITAL LETTERS) on virtually everyone's face.

Warren Buffet who owns the largest plane manufacturing company in US flies economy class in commercial airlines and has been known to drive a 2014 Cardilac XTS.

Bill gates does not own a plane and drives 1991 Porsche 911 Carrera, Porsche 930 and a 1988 Porsche 959 Coupe.

When he came to Nigeria with his wife Belinda he flew commercial economy ticket.

So what is wrong with the Nigerian rich?

I don't expect this kind of modesty and humility from the crop of leaders we have and the elite in Nigeria.They are undoubtedly easy money bags and hyenas that call themselves rich.

Most of them were unemployed and in rags 15 years ago.

‘You Were An Absentee Father’ — Mother of Ooni’s First Child Speaks Out for The First Time Ever

Omolara Olatubosun, the mother of Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi’s first child, has described the paramount Yoruba king as an absentee father who failed to take care of his daughter for a number of years.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Olatubosun said there was no iota of truth in Ooni’s concocted “self-serving tale about his role in our daughter’s life”.

She described the relationship between the two of them as “short and uneventful”.

“A couple of weeks ago, on his Instagram and pages, he once again wrote that he was a ‘single father’ to my daughter — a mendacious claim that has no basis in fact, but has gone on for too long,” the statement, exclusively obtained by FIJ, read in part.

“I, Omolara, took care of my daughter physically, financially and emotionally, with the moral support of my mother and my siblings.”

She also said Ooni was never present in their daughter’s life for the first 10 years of her growing up, describing the single father narrative as “annoying and disrespectful”.

“I was a pregnant teen, but he was nowhere to be found, and I bore the responsibilities for our child and paid the physical and social cost of raising her alone in my mom’s house,” she said.

She said Ooni saw their daughter for only five minutes at the hospital when she was born, noting that the next periods he saw her were when she was already four and 10 years old respectively.

“I was the single parent. He was, until our daughter was old enough, an absentee father. Unfortunately, a lie goes a long way around the world before the truth gets a chance to tie its shoes. So, this is my attempt at correcting the record,” she said, challenging the king to provide photos of him and their daughter as a kid.

While celebrating his daughter’s birthday on October 19, Ooni had recounted how he became a father when he was just a 19-year-old. He said the journey with his daughter, Princess Adeola Ogunwusi, was incredibly filled with uncertainty as a young Father.

“Reminiscent of the past: those steps of moulding and shaping the future of another life were huge tasks and calculated risks,” he said. “Based on my recollection, I lived through pockets of circumstances that called my integrity and competence to question. I equally realised that being a single parent to a daughter in an unfamiliar footprint can be a major shift in human experience and a daunting journey.”
