Osun State Government has declared the no work, no pay rule on staffers of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree who refuse to resume to duty as from Monday, 14th August, 2023.

This was disclosed in a memo signed by the Acting Registrar of the Institution, Mr Abiodun Oloyede.
The memo stated that "sequel to the government directive that the Institution should re-open fully on Monday 14th August, 2023, the Chairman, Governing Council of the Institution, Hon Diran Ayanbeku has directed that all staff of the Institution should report unfailingly to commence the suspended Part-Time students First Semester Examination immediately." As a result of this, the Chairman directed that Attendance Registers should be opened in the Personnel Unit of the Institution's Registry for the staff to indicate their attendance daily.

The release warned that any staff who refuses to carry out his/her academic duties would be sanctioned accordingly.

It would be recalled that members of the academic Staff of the Institution have embarked on strike since 3 weeks ago, following the suspension of the Rector of the Institution, Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo as a result of alleged financial impropriety and abuse of office levied against him.
As a result of this, a Panel of Enquiry has been set up by the State Government to investigate the allegations after being queried with unsatisfied response by the Rector.

BREAKING: Appeal court dismisses Oyetola’s suit, reinstates Adeleke as Osun governor

The court of appeal sitting in Abuja has dismissed the suit filed by APC’s Gboyega Oyetola challenging the election of Ademola Adeleke as the governor of Osun.

Delivering judgment in the appeal filed by Adeleke on Friday, a three-member panel of justices held that the election tribunal erred when it ruled that the 1st and 2nd respondents (Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress) proved their allegation of over-voting.

According to the panel of judges which issued its verdict on Friday, Adeleke is the duly elected governor of the State.

The Osun governorship election tribunal, in January, held that Oyetola was able to prove that there was over-voting in some of the polling units.

13/03/2023

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Monday said old N200, N500, N1,000 banknotes remain legal tender till December 31, 2023.

The apex bank’s Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Isa AbdulMumin disclosed this in a statement on Monday. This is coming 10 days after the Supreme Court ruled that old naira notes should co-exist with new ones till the end of the year.

“In compliance with the established tradition of obedience to court orders and sustenance of the Rule of Law Principle that characterized the government of President Muhammadu Buhari, and by extension, the operations of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), as a regulator, Deposit Money Banks operating in Nigeria have been directed to comply with the Supreme Court ruling of March 3, 2023.
“Accordingly, the CBN met with the Bankers’ Committee and has directed that the old N200, N500 and N1000 banknotes remain legal tender alongside the redesigned banknotes till December 31, 2023.
“Consequently, all concerned are directed to conform accordingly,” the statement read.
The highest court of the land had on March 3 ordered that old N200, N500 and N1000 notes remain valid till December 31, 2023.

This was after 16 states of the Federation instituted a suit to challenge the legality or otherwise of the introduction of the policy.
The 16 states led by Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara had prayed the apex court to void and set aside the policy on the ground that it is inflicting hardships on innocent Nigerians.
The Supreme Court subsequently ruled that President Muhammadu Buhari’s disobedience of its February 8 order is a sign of dictatorship, adding that the President breached the Constitution of the Federation in the way he issued directives for the re-designing of the Naira by the CBN.
After the March 3 judgement by the Supreme Court, the Presidency, CBN and the AGF kept mum, throwing many bank customers and Nigerians into confusion as the ruling of the apex court contradicted the directive of the President on February 16 that old N500 and N1000 notes are banned and old N200 notes remain valid till April 10.

However, the Presidency broke its silence on Monday, saying the President never told the CBN and the AGF not to obey the order of the apex court.
“The CBN has no reason not to comply with court orders on the excuse of waiting for directives from the President,” the Presidency noted.
The Presidency also said the President is an absolute respecter of the rule of law and that the “negative campaign and personalised attacks against the President by the opposition and all manner of commentators is unfair and unjust”.

People often ask me why I love writing. Well, today being international writers day, I can't seem to figure a better time to make a testimony as to why I write what I write. Below are a few reasons why:

1. I enjoy writing, just the same way I enjoy reading, watching football, and tv shows. I can just wake up early in the morning and feel the urge to put my thoughts down. Notepad is one of the most frequently used applications on my phone. You may be surprised to know that I barely share one-fourth of my writings on social media.

2. I am a "reserved" person in real life and most of the time, I don't get to speak my mind while conversing with other people. Often, all I do is listen, smile, and give short responses. So, I find solace in putting my inexpressible thoughts into words. I don't know what that makes me; an introvert or a dumb guy.

3. I write so I constantly appreciate the efforts of writers and never take them for granted. Sometimes you never know what someone else's experiences are until you put yourself in their shoes. Hence, my respect for writers, especially the creative ones.

I don't know what it feels like to be a writer because I am not one, and I don't equally know what it feels like to want to become a writer because I am not considering pursuing writing as a career, at least not for now.

However, what I do know is the toil experienced by writers in the process of coming up with something for their audience. Believe me, it is not an easy stride. As such, today, I celebrate all the writers in the world. We are grateful for making sure our hands are filled with creative, amazing, and interesting pieces, articles, novels, and books. Thank you for instilling smiles on our faces and for unlocking new partitions in our brains.

Did you know?

Atiku lost in all G5 States; Abia, Enugu, Oyo, Benue and Rivers, that would have been a great loss to Tinubu if Atiku had yielded to G5 agitation.

My opinion though
