Ooni At 50, Remi Tinubu, Soun, Etsu Nupe, and other dignitaries storms Ile-Ife

Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi - Ojaja II celebrated his golden jubilee. The event was graced by Sóun of Ogbomosoland, H.I.M Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the first Lady, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Etsu of Nupe, among other dignitaries.
Oba Adeyeye penned "As I begin my 50th birthday celebrations with meaningful activities for the people of Ile-Ife, I was honored to welcome Her Excellency, the First Lady of Nigeria, to the Royal Court of Ife. Her visit, attended by dignitaries, marked the unveiling of the OJAJA hostel, and the commissioning of a 2.7-kilometer road and a pavilion named in her honor at Obafemi Awolowo University. These events reflect our shared commitment to progress for our community and nation.

Her Excellency’s journey from a student at Obafemi Awolowo University over 41 years ago to a national leader is inspiring. She has consistently championed the rights of women and children across Nigeria, advocating for gender equality, education, and social welfare. Her support for entrepreneurial programs has fostered a new generation of female leaders, contributing to national development.

Like Her Excellency, I urge all leaders to serve Nigeria with integrity, compassion, and patriotism. Our nation requires socio-economic initiatives that reach all corners, and it is our duty to be sources of hope and strength in shaping Nigeria’s future.

The moment Former Senegalese President, Leopold Sedar Senghor heard that Thomas Sankara had changed the name of his country from Haute Volta to Burkina Faso 🇧🇫 , and the people who live there will be called Burkinabes, he sent a letter to him saying Mr President, this appellation does not correspond to French therefore I will suggest that you call the population Burkineux and Burkineuse. But Thomas Sankara replied to him:

"We are not french people and we don't want to speak French better than you. We are Africans and this appellation shall remain like this. "

Appointed females to high governmental positions, encouraged them to work, recruited them into the military, and granted pregnancy leave during

L-R Aare Aare-ago High Chief S.S Otolorin. (The meaning of Aare is, Commander of Warlord while Ago means Protector) combined together means "Commander of shield of war" - He has the highest sit in Soun's Council because he is the commander of the kingdom armed forces. Remember Ogbomoso is a town of warriors.

Ooni:

Iyalode means "mother of the outer court" the only and highest female chieftaincy title in soun's council called the ilus in Ogbomoso. She represents women interest and advocacy + cultural preservation in the city.

Abese: Another high-chief in soun's council, abese is a powerful warrior with the responsibility to guarding/advising the monarch on what to do as per divination + he is a strong emissaries of the king as per passing important and confidential messages across to the people. As the name implies, Abese. Ese in Yoruba is leg, abe which mean the leg that was beacon upon. He is a very important high chief in the city.

Another high chief in the cabinet I will love to talk about is the Ikolaba. Though not in this picture but traditional he is the last person to see Sóun everyday and first in the morning. Only he, Ikolaba can demand to see kabiyesi anytime. Even if kabiyesi sleeping. They may have to wake the monarch so he can attend to Ikolaba. Why is it so? 😆😆 I will tell you later. ( If you doubt whether this tradition and custom is kept till date) come to Ogbomoso Palace and see
