Engr. Dr. Yaumi coronated as 'Khadimul Islam of Magumeri' at the 2nd Annual Walima held in Magumeri

~ Engr. Dr. Yaumi Applauded Gov. Zulum for creating the enabling environment towards developing both Western and Islamic education

~ as hundreds of women and children attend free Islamiya School established under his leadership.

~ The Islamiya is teaching the basic practice of Islam (faraidul ghosl, Wudu, Salah, and tauhid).

~ Engr. Dr. Yaumi donated 200 pieces of Quran

~ Sheikh Muhammmad Mustapha, Sheikh Tijjani Umara, Sheikh Prof. Muhammad Alh. Abubakar and other dignitaries also donated cash and copies of the Quran

~ The Walima was graced by the leading Islamic scholars of Magumeri indigenes as special guests, including Sheikh Tijjani Umara, the chairman, National Quranic Education, Borno state chapter; Sheikh Muhammad Mustapha, Special Adviser to Gov. Zulum; and Prof. Muhammad Alh Abubakar, chief Imam, Indimi Masjid and Professor of Islamic Studies, unimaid.

~ The APC Chairmanship Candidtate, APC party chieftains, stakeholders, Abba Fali Shehu Abubakar Garbai (the District Head of Magumeri) among other dignitaries

The entire populace registered their delightfulness to Engr. Dr. Yaumi for restoring and strengthening moral teachings in Magumeri after decades.

The women and the children showcased some talents, which include:
~ Quran Recitation

~Hadith recitation

~ Arabic Talk show

Responding after the different presentations by the women and the children, the special guests gave words of advice.
The special guests summarised the gathering first as a blessing to the entire local government.

Second, the event is an eye opener and a sign of good leadership by Engr. Dr. Yaumi, whose Islamic background has been translated into governance. Such is the type of leadership we need.

The Story Of Borno

A state in modern day Nigeria that has a great history

It was formerly known as Kanem then later Kanem-Bornu. It was founded by the Kanembu people and they speak the Kanuri language. The dynasty lasted for 1000 years and it was recognized as the second longest dynasty in the world.

Kanem entered Borno in the 13th century, they were known as Kanem at first then Kanem-Borno as time goes on. The place is now the Northern part of Nigeria.

The king title of Kanembu was known as MAI and their first Mai’s name is Seif (Sayf), this brought about the Sayfawa dynasty which was coined from his name.

The first capital of Kanem-Bornu was Njimi which means South. History has it that the dynasty lasted for roughly 1000 years and this makes it the second or third longest ruling dynasty in the world.

In the year 872CE, Ahmad Al’Yaqubi a Muslim geographer mentioned Kanem-Bornu in Bilal-el-Sudan to be the third greatest empire in the world.

Islam was brought into Africa through trade. North African traders introduced Islam into Kanem-Bornu. Mai king Dunama Dibalemi was one of the greatest ruler of kanem, he was the first to make Hajj in the empire and he was able to do it twice.

Mai king Dunama attacked and conquered several surrounding tribes around Lake Chad, Westward to Kano and Eastwards to Wudai in Cameroon. He established hostels in Cairo and made Kanem students travel there.
