Veteran Nollywood actor, Amaechi Muonagor, has died after a prolonged illness, at the age of 62.
This was disclosed by a social commentator, Morris Monye, via his social media handle, on Sunday.
Muonagor was said to have suffered kidney failure and was on dialysis.
The sudden news of his demise comes just few days after a viral video where he solicited funds to help him have a Kidney transplant.
Deeply heartbroken by the news of Amaechi Muonagor's passing.
He was a talented Nollywood actor whose presence on our screens was truly masterful.
We watched with concern as he battled health issues, offering whatever support we could to help him seek treatment in India.…

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Muonagor, a native of Idemili, in Anambra, was born Aug. 20, 1962.
He was an actor and producer. In 2016, he was nominated for AMVCA 2017 Best Actor in a comedy.
In 1989, after his youth service, Muonagor started working for the News Agency of Nigeria. He left his job a few years later for an acting role in his first movie as Akunatakasi in Taboo 1, a Nigerian movie.

The naira on Wednesday weakened to N1,135 per dollar at the parallel section of the foreign exchange (FX) market.
The figure represents N15 or 1.35 percent depreciation compared to the N1,120 it traded yesterday.
Currency traders known as Bureau De Change operators (BDCs), who spoke to TheCable in Lagos, quoted the buying rate of the greenback at N1,120 and the selling price at N1,135 per dollar.
“The rate was highly volatile today,” a street trader who identified as Aliyu said.
A parallel market is characterised by noncompliant behaviour with an institutional set of rules
On the official market side, the naira depreciated by 0.55 percent to close at N874.71 to a dollar on Wednesday — from N869.91 on Tuesday.
According to data on FMDQ Securities Exchange, a platform that oversees official foreign-exchange trading in Nigeria, the highest price recorded within the day’s trading was N1097.50/$, before it settled at N745/$.
JP Morgan, a US multinational financial services firm, had projected the naira would trade at about N850 to the dollar before the end of 2023.

Popular Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade, has expressed her feelings about the pressure she receives from her family and friends to get married.

The singer, during her latest interview with Cool FM, lamented that she is under pressure to marry and have children.

While subtly refuting the viral reports of her marriage to her manager, Alade stated: “People often get married, especially towards the end of every year. I’m not feeling pressured. When the time is right, it will happen.

“Family pressure is a challenging thing to resist because it’s coming from the people I respect and look up to, insisting that I should get married. However, I believe that if they genuinely have my best interests at heart, they will be patient with me because finding the right partner is more crucial than just getting married.

“But beyond that, I don’t think anyone should rush into making the wrong decision of being with the wrong partner.”
