An 18-year-old boy stole a phone from a neighbor that was valued at 55k. The boy was arrested by the police & his parents were asked to pay 250k to free him. The parents struggled & managed to raise the money for the police so as to bail out the boy. As they were driving home, the parents pleaded their son, "Never should you repeat this kind of nonsense young man, do you see how much your bad behavior has cost us.

The boy replied, "Don't worry, your 250k is here with me, I stole it from the drawer when I was being released"

HOW ASAKE WAS SIGNED BY OLAMIDE. But here is Sierra Leone, Artists don’t read contract properly before signing it.

In a recent interview, Asake narrates how Olamide signed him.

I did not even know that Olamide will sign me. Him being on my song made me know 2022 is already great. A week after I dropped the song, Olamide called me to come to his house. I did not even know what to wear, I felt like Olamide might not like black, white or anything 😆. I was wearing and changing.

When I got to the house Olamide was like
“Asake, will you like to join YBNL“?
I quickly said yes and was happy. He brought out documents, I wanted to sign, he was like “Nooooooo, Go home, get an entertainment lawyer, read over it several times before you sign“.

A Record label that wants you to grow won’t allow you to sign anything in a haste, they will advise you to get a lawyer who will better explain things to you.
Here in SIERRA LEONE people read contracts and sign in 30 minutes. After a year they start saying they didn’t understand.

Even if a Record deal contract is written in your dialect, get an entertainment lawyer to explain it to you.
We are tired of seeing fights between artistes and record labels in SIERRA LEONE.
Record labels can also help these artistes by telling them to read well like Olamide told Asake.
