Legendary Nigerian singer, Onyeka Onwenu, 72, sl¥mps and d!es after performing at a party in Lagos


The music icon reportedly d!ed on Tuesday night, July 30, at the Reddington Hospital, Lagos after she sl¥mped shortly after performing at a birthday party in Lagos. She was 72.

According to a source close to the family, Onwenu was attending a friend’s birthday party when she took to the stage to perform. After her performance, she returned to her seat and suddenly slumped. She was rushed to Reddington Hospital in Lagos, where she was later pronounced de@d.


The cause of de@th is yet to be confirmed.


Onyeka Onwenu, born on May 31, 1952, had a career that spanned over four decades. She was not only a renowned singer and songwriter but also an actress, journalist, and politician. Her first album with Polygram, In The Morning Light, was released in 1984.


Some of her most popular songs include “One Love,” “Iyogogo,” and “Ekwe.”

May her soul rest in peace.

Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez is embarking on a European tour to rally support for recognition of Palestine as a state, the government spokesperson has announced.

Sanchez is planning to meet the leaders of Norway, Ireland, Portugal, Slovenia, and Belgium in the coming days.

Madrid has vowed to recognise the Palestinian state before July, but it hopes more countries will follow its lead.

“Our goal is clear: drive forward the recognition of the Palestinian State in a key moment in which the conflict is entering a decisive phase and when the conflict is being discussed in the United Nations,” the government spokesperson said.

The United Nations said Israel’s war on Gaza, now approaching its 100th day, has created a dire humanitarian crisis, marking a stain on humanity.

Since October 7, Israel has initiated blockades and has been relentlessly bombarding the besieged Palestinian territory, resulting in the deaths of 23,843 people, the majority of them being women and children, according to Palestinian health officials.

Israel’s actions have led to severe shortages of food, water, medicine and fuel in the blockaded enclave, causing the collapse of the health system.

"The massive death, destruction, displacement, hunger, loss and grief of the last 100 days are staining our shared humanity," the head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, Philippe Lazzarini, said during a visit to Gaza.
