I'm quitting Gospel music to do secular, na there money dey - J-Klohn.

Popular gospel hip-hop rapper, J-Klohn says he's ready to switch from gospel music to secular music as it has many prospects of one making it into the mainstream.

According to him, the love and support those guys show are much compared to the love shown by gospel artists. There's more segregation in gospel arts than secular arts.

We gospel artists don't help ourselves, so I'm giving the secular music industry a shot.

Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema, named Ballon d’Or winner for 2022.

The French international enjoyed a remarkable 2021-22 campaign at Santiago Bernabeu, with a stunning 44-goal haul helping Los Blancos to La Liga and Champions League titles.

The 34-year-old found the target on 27 occasions in the Spanish top flight last season and 15 times in European competition.

Benzema has been a revelation for Madrid, helping to fill the void created by Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure in 2018 while also taking on captaincy duties following Sergio Ramos’ move to Paris Saint-Germain.

He has now been recognised as the world’s best by his peers, with competition from the likes of Mohamed Salah, Robert Lewandowski, Sadio Mane, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland seen off to land the prestigious Golden Ball.

The Ballon d’Or vote had been dominated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in recent times, with the Argentine claiming a history-making seven awards, while the Portuguese superstar has five to his name.

Other iconic performers to have taken the top prize on multiple occasions included Michel Platini, Johan Cruyff, Marco van Basten, Franz Beckenbauer, Ronaldo and Alfredo Di Stefano.

Benzema has now become the eighth Real Madrid player to land the award – enhancing their record-setting haul.

TRAGEDY: FOUR GUYS K!LLED IN ABUJA OVER A LADY.

Formerly Kaduna Based Nigerian singer, Chop Boii, has been kìlled alongside his producer and others in a house in Gwarimpa Abuja.

Chop Boii, aka Sempe, was reportedly in the house with his producer, a friend, and his producer's girlfriend when they were attacked and kìlled.

After the kìlling, their fingers were chopped off and their blood was used to write on the wall.

A friend who narrated the incident said it wasn't Chop Boii they came for but he and his friend were in the producer's house at the wrong time so they were also killed.

Tributes are already pouring in as friends express shock over the death of the talented singer.

A woman in Ibadan has shocked the court of law with her narration of the tortuous séxual experience she undergoes in her matrimonial home.

A 43-year-old woman, Omolara Acchoyame, recently dazed her husband before the Igando Customary Court in Lagos State, when she alleged that séx with her husband was torture.

Omolara, who had filed for divorce proceedings against her husband, Solomon Acchoyame, alleged that he exhibited strange behaviours while making love to her.

She alleged that he waited for her to sleep, then without waking her up, just opens her clothes and had séx with her, adding that she never enjoyed this.Omolara further told the court that her husband had three things which he used during séx for lubrication, listing them as aboniki balm, mentholatum and dusting powder, adding that these things made her hate having séx with him.

She testified that she met her husband 14 years ago and bore him three children, adding that their major quarrel was based on the fact that she didn’t know what he’s doing for a living.

“We fought most times before I left home because I don’t know what he does for a living. He goes to his village three times a week and I don’t know the reason for this since his parents are dead and when he comes back, he would say he does not have any money.

“I would go to my sister to borrow money for him for his next trip. Yet, he will come back and curse me and my family and he doesn’t come home until midnight.

“My husband does nothing for a living. Please dissolve the marriage so that I can start my life all over again,” she said.

In his defence, the 44 year-old husband stated that when he met his wife at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo State, things were going on well for him and it was with his money that he trained her in the university.

Solomon said that after a while, he started experiencing financial difficulties and he couldn’t complete his education.

“I want to perform my obligations as a father and husband, but I am handicapped,” he said.

The case was adjourned

Doping: Nigeria at risk of losing Commonwealth Games gold medal

If Nigeria ends up losing the gold medal, the outing in Birmingham will no longer be the country’s best-ever as widely celebrated.

There are strong indications that Nigeria may be stripped of one of the gold medals won at the recently held Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

PREMIUM TIMES findings indicate that the gold medal won in the 4x100m Women’s event is now under threat after the failed dope test of one of the athletes in the winning quartet of Tobi Amusan, Favour Ofili, Rose Chukwuma and Grace Nwokocha.

The quartet had set a new African Record of 42.10s to win what was Nigeria’s 11th gold medal in Birmingham and it was a historic moment for the country at the Games.

However, with the latest developments, the fanfare and excitement that came with that gold medal and the African record will amount to nothing owing to the doping rules.

The doping rule nullifies any performance in its entirety, even if just a member of the team is guilty of the doping infraction.

The fact that it is only the relay gold that Nigeria risks losing suggests the culprit is not Tobi Amusan who also won the 100m Women’s hurdles gold.

Though the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN is yet to make a public statement on the identity of the erring athlete, an official in the AFN board confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES how devastated they are by the sad turn of events.
“I cannot talk to you yet on the issue. Just wait for the official statement that would be released, but this is very sad. Just when we thought we were making some headway, this has really brought us back,” the AFN official told PREMIUM TIMES.

The Athletics Integrity Unit, the body in charge of global doping cases, is also yet to make a public statement on the matter since the result of the ‘B’ sample, which is often the same as ‘A’ is still being awaited.

Incidentally, the AIU in the build-up to the Commonwealth Games had praised Nigeria for its improved effort at combating doping.

Unlike the Tokyo Olympics, where Nigeria had 10 of its athletes barred from competing for failing to do the required number of out-of-competition tests, the case was different in Oregon at the World Championship where Nigeria had a clean bill of health.

“While Nigeria did a paltry 26 tests in 2021, it has already conducted 157 this term, and the quantum improvement has been hailed even though it is admitted that even more can still be done to totally get rid of cheats in the sports.

“It is accepted now in our sport that National Federations must play their part in supporting anti-doping efforts,” David Howman, Chair of the AIU Board said in a statement issued about two weeks before the commencement of the Commonwealth Games.

If Nigeria ends up losing the relay medal, the outing in Birmingham will no longer be the country’s best-ever at the Commonwealth Games as widely celebrated.

Emeruwa clears doubts over eligibility for NFF Presidency

The Head of safety and Security for Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr. Christian Emeruwa, has said that he was eligible to run as the head of the country’s football body.

Speaking on his eligibility for the presidency of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in Lagos yesterday, Emeruwa revealed that the provisions in the NFF Electoral Act made it possible for him to run despite spurious claims by others eyeing the leadership of Sunday Dankaro house that the seasoned sports administrator was not qualified to run.

Emeruwa said he was more than competent to contest for the election, adding it would be

‘ a turnaround time’ for Nigerian football since his vision and strategy would be in tandem with international best practices.

Emeruwa, quoting from the NFF Electoral Act, said inter alia : “For the election of the President, two-third of the votes recorded as valid should be necessary in the first ballot. In a second or any other requisite ballot, an absolute majority of votes recorded, 50 percent or more is sufficient if there are more than two candidates.

“Only members of the NFF may propose candidates for the office of the President of NFF. Members shall notify the general secretariat in writing on the name of the candidate for the president of the NFF at least two months before the date of the General Assembly.”

"WE CAN'T TRUST SHETTIMA WITH NIGERIA'S SECURITY" - PDP.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has given why Nigeria cannot afford to leave the security of the country in the hands of the vice-presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Kashim Shettima.

The PDP Head of Digital, Anthony Ehilebo, stated that Shettima is not competent enough to be in charge of security in Nigeria because of his antecedents, He further butressed that the former governor was in charge of Borno State when the Chibok girls were abducted in their numbers and nothing was done by the then Shettima administration as to that effect.

Shettima had said at the just-concluded National Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) that he would oversee security while his principal, Bola Tinubu, would oversee the economy if elected as Nigeria’s next president and vice-president.

“How come you come to the NBA programme and announce on live TV that you will take care of security and your principal will handle the economy?

“Section 130(2) of the 1999 Constitution specifies that it is the role of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. And if he decides to delegate the power, it must be to the armed forces. But here we have a VP candidate telling the world he wants to be in charge of our security.

“This is the same man in charge when the Chibok girls were abducted. Shettima ignored the directive to move the students and the terrorists took advantage.

“It is also a fact that a suspected terrorist, Kabiru Sokoto, was arrested in the Governor’s Lodge by the DSS. Today, we have not been able to dissociate him from all that. Unfortunately, Nigerians are more interested in his sneakers and what he wore to the NBA than his statement,”
