AMASCOS inaugurates newly elected officers
…as President promises harmonious synergy, total cooperation
The Association of Mass Communication Students (AMASCOS), Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, has officially inaugurated the newly elected 2024 executive members to pilot the affairs of the association effectively.
The event which took place on Friday 15th March, 2024 at ETF 2 witnessed Oath taking administered by the Speaker, 9th Raffia Republic, Rt Hon. Promise Ufot.
The Head, Department of Mass Communication, Dr Unwana Charles tasked the executives on need to to maintain a mutual relationship and synergy between the Staff and students for amonous living and effective representative.
Ably represented by the Students' Adviser, Mr. Uyo Ned, he emphasized the importance of serving the department and students selflessly, urging them to work tirelessly to fulfill their campaign promises and leave a lasting legacy.
The Special Guest of honour, Mr. Anyiana Umanah, the Station Manager of Redemption Fm, Abak highlighted the significance of teamwork and cautioned against personal agendas that noting that it will hinder the association's progress.
He stressed the trust and confidence students placed in the newly elected leaders and urged them to uphold their mandate with integrity and dedication.
In his acceptance speech, the President, Comr. Dominic Umoh, expressed gratitude to the management of the institution, key figures who supported him, including academic staff and student representatives. He pledged fairness and transparency in his administration, promising to build on past achievements while avoiding previous mistakes.
Umoh emphasized the importance of synergy between management and staff for fostering innovation and excellence.
In a goodwill message, the President Communication and Media Studies, University of Uyo, Her Excellency, Edididiong Uwah appreciated the President and the entire executives for scaling through the electioneering process successfully while tasking them with the responsibility of living up to expectations.
She described the President as a humble fellow who is always ready to learn and collaborate for the growth and development of the people he is leading. Furthermore, she urged the entire executives to stay off personal interest rather work for the growth of the students and the Department at large.
To ensure inclusivity and smooth administration, the AMASCOS President appointed various aides, ranging from a Chief of Staff to others, reflecting a commitment to diverse representation and collaboration within the association.
Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were: Technologists, Mr Chris Obot, Mr Utitofonidara John, Mr Ifiok Willie, Staff, Mr Columba Akpan, SUG President, Comr. Idem Titus, Former AMASCOS Presidents, Comr Charles Ufon, Hon Alphonsus Gerald, CEO, Gong Newspaper, Comr Abasianyanga Akpan, Akwapoly News Bulletin Managing Editor, Comr Edidiong Williams, amongst others.
