Kogi Central Witness Alleges Overvoting in Governorship Petition

A witness from Kogi Central senatorial district testified before the Kogi State governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja, alleging widespread overvoting by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Alhaji Usman Ododo.

The witness, displaying courage, recounted events at his polling unit in Adavi LGA. It's well-known that irregularities marred the Kogi Central election, leading the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to suspend proceedings in Ogori Mangogo and four other local government areas due to alleged pre-filled results sheets and overvoting.

Interestingly, Muri Ajaka, representing the Social Democratic Party (SDP), is not challenging the outcome of the central senatorial election itself. He focuses on allegations of overvoting, pre-filled results, and the APC candidate's lack of qualification.

At least four witnesses provided testimonies to substantiate the overvoting claims. Due to time constraints, the court could not hear testimonies from the remaining two witnesses present. The case has been adjourned to April 3, 2024, for further hearing.

Then come adjourn am to 15th April 2024 come give 10 days to APC, Ododo and INEC lawyers make dem respond say true true dem win election and na that only 10 court sitting days dem get to do all the things say Tribunal no get time to waste again.

As the witness come submit e petition dem come ask am say if na wetin e submit be that e say yes , dem say e get wetin e wan change inside? E say just one small place, judge come tell am to change am before dem continue, e come correct am Na so court come accept all the evidence wey the forensic man bring come court to show say ojoro dey inside the election.

Muri lawyers come happy say court come accept all their evidence and forensic reports even as Ododo lawyers been no want make dem accept am.

Na for here now INEC lawyer come get time to ask the forensic man questions.

Ans- we were 8 in number.

Q- You are experts in various fields?
Ans- were experts in digital forensic.

Q- Qualification of one surpasses for the rest.

Ans- Yes as a forensic expert.

Q- The reason u did not take the other names of the other 7 experts is because the qualification of one surpasses the other.

Ans- No am the team lead of the other members..

Q- U did not have other experts added to u.
Ans- That's not correct my Lord.

Q- i put it to u that you are you yourself, you are not an expert.

Ans- My Lord I am a qualified expert.

Q- Before u examined the BVAS machine do you have any notion of what it ought to contain?

Ans- before i examined the BVAS machine i heard and was told what it was to contain.

Q- What did it contain?
Ans- It is to contain registered voters and accredited voters.

Q- like which information?
Ans- Any other information

Q- Any other information includes form EC8As
Ans- Yes my Lord.

Q- This BVAS machine, does any of them contain form EC8A?
Ans- Yes my lord

Q- This BVAS machine that u examined did they contain information as to who made the impute of the informations?

KOGI ELECTION TRIBUNAL UPDATE TODAY 5/4/2024

Today SDP finish their matter.
All the lawyers and people wey dey do case dey court. SDP lawyer wey be Barr. Okutepa SAN come ask judge say e get one witness here wey for inside petition dem name that witness as EW2.
1st and 2nd respondents wey be APC and Ododo lawyer come say dem no see the page wey Barr. Okutepa talk before Okutepa come tell dem say make dem check page 56 Vol1. E be like say Okutepa come tell dem in a way wey the thing pain dem like say dem no Sabi book but dem come report to judge immediately then Barr. Okutepa come tell dem sorry make the matter continue.

So 3rd respondent wey be INEC lawyer Barr. Agabi SAN come ask question say wetin the witness dey come do in the first place wey dem give dem plenty documents like this?
Say time no dey to go look all those ones again.

Na so Barr. Okutepa come say wetin dey inside the document no be new matter say na the same thing wey dem file for court since na part of am be that.
Say na BVAS matters, forensic and picture evidence of wetin dem carry come court dey inside. Come still talk say court been don give dem right to show am since and na part of the reasons wey dem say dem win the election be that.

Barr. Okutepa come continue come say e beg court make dem give am time make we show everything for court say time wey court give am still remain.

Na so all the Ododo lawyer, APC lawyer and INEC lawyer object say make court no allow that one but court come allow Barr. Okutepa to do wetin e want come give small break make dem go study the document wey Okutepa carry come for 30mins before dem continue.

So witness come enter box come tell court who e be say him na somebody Udo from Rivers wey be expert for forensics, come bring all e certificates. Forensic expert na all those people wey sabi expose when one person thumbprint ballot papers more than one time and other ojoro.

Attention! Attention!! Attention!!

This is to bring to the notice of the Federal Government and security agencies of the molestation and intimidation going on at the Central and Eastern flank of Kogi State. It was gathered today that hoodlums attack houses of SDP members, brutalise pregnant woman, burn down properties, this was carried out today after a witness from Okene appeared in court as witness to the election malpractice in Kogi Central at the November 11th Kogi State Gubernatorial Election.

In the same vain, the Auditor General of Kogi State Y.Y Okala is busy using acclaimed vigilante group to arrest some persons illegally in Kogi East simply because they're members of SDP and refused to support his imposed candidate in the last election.

Note: election has come and gone but not dusted as the matter is in the court, it's better we allow the law to take it cause. Enough is enough, all we need in our land is peace. But the level of intimidation by people in government on our people is becoming unbearable and if this continues we will have no option than to restrain.

If truly you won the election free and fair why the intimidation on the people?
