Naija should desire RED!
As much as STREETWISENAIJA magazine wouldn’t delves into politics, it is out of obligation to our prospective subscribers and audience, based on our core mission to create awareness through resourceful materials that would lead to the survival/success of the aforementioned.
Ghana, Cote de Ivoire, South Africa, Liberia, Kenya, Uganda are few of the African countries that have gradually progressed through the process: Revolution, Evolution, Destination (RED).
Jerry Rawling started the revolution for Ghana like Nelson Mandela (RIP) motivated his country. When a country successfully transit the Revolution into Evolution, it would be obvious because its success would be felt on the economic performance, social life and improved infrastructures.
The event at the Tahir Square that led to the Arab Spring was a great revolutionary move that turned worse in most countries that followed in the same line.
Revolution does not need to be violent but a strategic and decisive leadership movement to correct the wrong and create platform for justice, fairness and equity in a democratic environment, where the people voices are not just heard but given due attention.
In Naija, where a godfather who has controlled a sizeable portion of the land and wants to extend his grips; goes around to appeal to a presido and former godfather who until recently only looking for relevance, to come and coordinate the mega-marriage of convenience in order to seize power leaves much to be imagined.
But it seemed they have understood that Naija people don't read and when they do, they are so forgetful.
One would wonder, how the Naija students couldn’t have stayed on the streets rather than their parents' homes for 5months plus without given a 'fight', and the so-called leaders would come out to call them half-baked graduates?
If not now but very soon the process of revolution would begin . . .
The process is simple - courageous leaders that would effect changes in every sector . . .power, aviation, agric, petroleum, finance - where corruption has eaten deep.
Then we need to evolve as a nation - define what/who we are, what bring us together, what are our strengths/weaknesses, what are the values we stand for (e.g, in Uganda, they have a ministry for Ethic and Integrity in the government cabinet).
Our destination would reveal the opportunities to explore and maximise for the benefits of all.
If we desire hope; we are the hope!
We can't feel unconcerned because as it goes around, it still comes around.
Now is the change we desire - because we have got the Voice.
Be the change you desire now . . . Niaja!
