FRSC CAUTIONS IMO RESIDENTS TO OBEY TRAFFIC RULES DURING SALAH

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Imo State says it has deployed over one hundred and fifty regular marshals and over two hundred special marshals to strategic places on the highway and Owerri metropolis to curb traffic situations during this Salah celebration.

The Sector commander in the state, Mr. Joshua Adekanye, made this known in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Owerri.

NAWOJ IN ANAMBRA SEEKS GOD'S INTERVENTION IN NIGERIA SECURITY CRISIS

A one day National Solemn Assembly for the country embarked upon by Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has ended in Awka Anambra State with a call on those perpetrating killings and causing insecurity in the country to have a rethink.

The prayer session was organized following the worsening security situation in Nigeria.

The prayer session, which took place in the 36 States of the country, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja had the theme, "Oh God, Heal Our Land."

ADDRESS INSECURITY, OPEN GRAZING BANNED IN OUR AREA — SOUTHERN GOVERNORS FORUM TELLS FG

The Southern Governors Forum has urged the Federal Government to address Nigerians on the challenges of insecurity and restore the confidence of the people.

The Governors made the call shortly after its meeting held behind closed doors at the Government House, Asaba, Delta State.

Presenting a communiquè on behalf of others, Ondo State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, said that the Southern Governors Forum reviwed the situation in the nation and focused on the current security situation, agitations, restructuring, prospect for inter state collaboration and partnership.

INEC CREATES 1,112 NEW POLLING UNITS IN ANAMBRA STATE

The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has put measures in place to ensure greater access to the electoral process in the country.

To this end, it has proposed the creation of 1,112 additional polling units in State, ahead of the November 6 Gubernatorial in the area.

ANAMBRA AIRPORT COMES ALIVE WITH MAIDEN FLIGHT

It was a historic event as the and people of State witnessed the maiden demonstration flight at the Passenger and Cargo , Umueri in Anambra East Local Government Area.

The project, which commenced in the heat of -19 pandemic about a year ago, is more than ninety percent completed, just as promised by Willie Obiano.

The Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport in Umueri has the second-longest runway in , measuring 3.7km in length and 60 metres wide, next to only Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.

UNKNOWN GUNMEN SET FEDERAL HIGH COURT ABAKALIKI ABLAZE

A section of the Federal High Court Abakaliki has been set ablaze by unknown gunmen.

A security guard in the Court premises who spoke with journalists on condition of anonymity explained that the gunmen attacked the court hall housing the library with petrol bomb.

UNKNOWN GUNMEN SET GOV UZODIMMA'S COUNTRY HOUSE ABLAZE, KILL THREE SECURITY AGENTS

Unknown gunmen Saturday morning attacked the country house of the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma in Omuma Oru East Local Government Area.

The hoodlums were said to had stormed the home of the Governor in a motorcade and attempted to unleash mayhem in the area.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Imo State Police Command, Mr. Orlando Ikeokwu, said the hoodlums on arrival threw a petrol bomb inside the compound, which burnt two vehicles that were parked in the premises.

According to the PPRO, one unarmed official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) attached to the residence lost his life during the incident.

Mr. Ikeokwu noted that the gunmen who were repelled by security operatives guarding the compound, later killed a police sergeant and another official of the NSCDC while escaping from the scene.

Similarly, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Declan Emelumba, said about fifteen armed men tried to attack the residence of the Governor but were repelled by gallant security men.

He described the attack as politically motivated, adding that government had directed security agencies to fish out those behind the attack and bring them to justice.

Parliamentary Staff Association of , has called on the Nigeria Forum to immediately commence the implementation of the constitutional provisions that provides financial autonomy for the legislative arm of government .

The Anambra state of Assembly workers of the union made the call in the state capital during a peaceful to drive home their stand on the ongoing nationwide strike action by the association.

The remains of the former General of the Radio Corporation of Nigeria , Mr Ben Egbuuna have been laid to rest in his country home Adagbe Avomimi, Enugwu Ukwu in Njikoka local government area of state.

During the mass held at St Benedict's Catholic Church, a visiting priest, and Dean, Akpo Denary, Ekwulobia Diocese, Reverend Father Paul Dimude, called on faithful to see death as a divine call that awaits all mortals.

Youths from north senatorial district of Imo state yesterday stormed the headquarters of the Independent Electoral in Owerri to protest the non representation of the area in the upper legislative chambers of the National .

The people of Umueledi in Old , Umuahia Local Area of Abia State have staged a peaceful protest against the Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) over what they described as Crazy Estimated Billing.

In an interview with Nigeria, the Chairman of Umueledi village Old Umuahia, Comrade Stanley Onyemachi, lamented that had in recent times skyrocketed their bills, which were beyond what they could afford.

He said EEDC brought of more than thirty thousand naira per building, including a single shop.
