𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝑰 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒓 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒚 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆? Here is what I thought about marriage almost eight years ago. Marriage is a trip stop. That’s how I viewed it. An event that moves you up. From living a carefree life to a responsible yet fulfilling life. However, ‘Responsibility’ was just a word for me at that time. I just wanted to flow according to society's standards. The desire was not to lag behind. Also, I was not at all satisfied with my work life. However, even if that would have been the case, I am sure I would not want to get married later. Staying single was not an option. Of course, people used to do that. But I was not that ‘people’. Seven years later, I am perfectly happy with my life, and wouldn’t change a bit of it. However, I also know people who are almost my age, single, and are doing everything I wanted to do. They are traveling alone, exploring the world, making new friends, and working their a$$ off! Getting married or staying single is a personal preference. It depends on what you are looking from life. Honestly, for me, if you are already committed to a relationship, marriage does nothing except adding a few pieces of paperwork. What is important is to look for a companionship that provides the opportunity to be ‘WE’, as well as ‘ME’. That companionship can be with someone else or with yourself. C Ankita Sinha
