Psychiatric experience is the most amazing experience I have gone for amongst other clinical experiences.
Mehn among other wards in the hospital, the substance abuse ward is really fun.
There you meet guys who are skilled, good, and intelligent.
It becomes a problem when the 4Ds are present.
The 4 Ds are
- Disfunction
- Distress
- Damage
- Deviance
So today I interviewed student nurse Ikwomma Dickson who educated us on SUBSTANCE ABUSE.
So let's hear her out

Good afternoon everyone
I was live today with Nurse Preggy it was really a wonderful session with her.
In the video, we were talking about how to effectively Prepare and pass your PTS exams. The steps or points there can also help any nursing students pass their exams.

HEART
The heart is an important organ in the body, which helps pump blood all over the body.
The heart weighs 300grams in adults, it has the size of a closed fist.
It is made up of 2 compartments divided by the septum.
Each compartment has 2 chambers, making the heart to have 4 chambers.
We have the Right and left atrium, and also the Right And left Ventricle.
At the top is the Aorta; which supply blood to the whole body, and it's the largest artery in the body.
The right atrium and the right Ventricle are separated by the tricuspid valve (also called the atrioventricular valve). This valve opens when to allow blood to fill the Ventricle.
The left atrium and left Ventricle are separated by he bicuspid valve (also called atrioventricular valve). Which also opens to allow flow of blood to the ventricles and closes if its filled.
The superior and inferior vena cava carries deoxygenated blood to the right atrium.
The pulmonary valve opens to allow the deoxygenated blood to move from the right Ventricle to the lungs through the pulmonary artery (which is the only artery in the body the Carry deoxygenated blood).
The pulmonary vein which is the only vein to carry oxygenated blood carries oxygenated blood from the lungs to the right atrium.
The valve between the left Ventricle and the aorta is the Aortic valve.
We will continue in my next video. thank you
