King Charles diagnosed with cancer.

It is not prostate cancer, but was discovered during his recent treatment for an enlarged prostate.

The type of cancer has not been revealed, but the palace said the King began “regular treatments” on Monday.

Buckingham Palace says the King “remains wholly positive about his treatment”. He will postpone his public engagements, with senior royals expected to stand in for him.

The King “looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible”, the palace said.

The King informed both his sons personally about his diagnosis and Prince William was said to be in regular contact with his father.

Prince Harry, who lives in the United States, spoke to his father and will be travelling to the UK to see him in the coming days.

Breaking News:
Nigerian workers protesting the removal of fuel subsidy at the National Assembly have pulled down the main gate leading into the complex.

The protesters, on the platform of the Nigeria Labour Congress (TUC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) forced their way to the National Assembly complex despite the resistance of security operatives.

It would be recall that the NLC president, Joe Ajaero, alongside other labour officials had assembled at the Unity Fountain before proceeding to the National Assembly.

President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima have submitted their final written response to the Presidential Election case Court in Abuja, addressing the petition filed by the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate Peter Obi. Their counsel, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), described the arguments and witness testimony presented by the contenders as frivolous, bogus, and based on hearsay.

Olanipekun urged the court to reject the petition, stating that it lacked merit and substance. He emphasized that there is no legal basis for the claim that Tinubu's election should be invalidated because he did not receive 25% or one quarter of the votes recorded in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). According to him, the use of the word "and" in the constitutional provision is conjunctive, not disjunctive.

In his statement, Olanipekun criticized the petition for lacking relevant and admissible evidence. He highlighted that judges do not possess the ability to predict the future like oracles, and therefore cannot proclaim a new leader based on speculation.

President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima have responded to the petition filed by the Labour Party and its presidential candidate. Their counsel argued that the petition lacked merit and substance, and urged the court to reject it. They emphasized that the claim of invalidating Tinubu's election based on the 25% votes in the FCT is legally unfounded.
