Embrace Positivity: Your Key to Thriving in Tough Times.
:Alex Adeoye

In the face of economic uncertainty, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and powerless. However, I urge you to consider the immense power of maintaining a positive mental attitude during these challenging times.

History has shown us that those who approach adversity with optimism and resilience are better equipped to weather the storm and emerge stronger on the other side. Rather than succumbing to fear and negativity, let's choose to focus on what we can control and the opportunities that still exist amidst the chaos.

Here are a few compelling reasons to embrace positivity during an economic downturn:

Mindset Matters: Your mindset shapes your reality. By adopting a positive outlook, you can cultivate a sense of hope and possibility, empowering yourself to overcome obstacles and find creative solutions to financial challenges.

Stress Reduction: Dwelling on negative thoughts only serves to increase stress and anxiety, which can take a toll on your physical and mental well-being. Choosing positivity allows you to manage stress more effectively and maintain a sense of calm in the midst of chaos.

Resilience Building: Adversity has a way of revealing our inner strength and resilience. By maintaining a positive attitude, you strengthen your ability to bounce back from setbacks and persevere in the face of adversity, ultimately emerging stronger and more resilient than ever before.

Opportunity Recognition: Every crisis presents opportunities for growth and innovation. By staying positive and keeping an open mind, you'll be better able to recognize and seize upon new opportunities for personal and professional development, even in challenging economic conditions.

Inspiring Others: Your positive attitude has the power to inspire and uplift those around you. By leading by example and radiating positivity, you can create a ripple effect of optimism and resilience that spreads throughout your community, helping others to navigate these uncertain times with grace and determination.

So, I urge you to embrace positivity as your guiding principle in the days and weeks ahead. Together, we can rise above the challenges we face and emerge stronger, more resilient, and more united than ever.

BREAKING NEWS: AIYEDATIWA NAMES OWO-BORN TECHNOCRAT AS DEPUTY
The NewsPostage, January 24, 2024

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has named Owo-born technocrat, Dr Olayide Adelami as his deputy.

Sources from the state assembly said the name of Dr Adelami, former Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly, has been forwarded to it for confirmation by the governor.

PROFILE OF DR OWOLABI OLAYIDE ADELAMI, MNI

Chief Olayide Owolabi Adelami, mni hails from Owo, Ondo state. He was born over 6 decades ago to the family of Oluka Oribokun by Pa and Mrs Amos Adelami. Adelami graduated from the prestigious Imade College in Owo before proceeding to The Polytechnic, Ibadan for his GCE A level and University of Lagos for his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. He further got an MBA degree from Ogun State University.

CAREER

After the completion of the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in June 1983, young Adelami was enlisted into Federal Civil Service as an Accountant II in December, 1983. He resumed to the Treasury Department of the Accountant General of the Federation office and in 1988 he was later posted to the National Assembly Provisional Office, Abuja as one of the pioneer staff of the Constituent Assembly which metamorphosed into the present day National Assembly.

In the discharge of his duty, Adelami had the singular privilege of setting up the Finance and Accounts Department of the National Assembly as we have come to know it. In 1996, he was invited to help in setting up the Accounts Department of the Petroleum Special Trust Fund. After completion of this tasks, he was also beckoned to serve at the Family Support Trust Fund where, again, he helped set up the Finance and Accounts Department. He headed these departments between 1996 and 2000. It is mention-worthy that the project of National Hospital, Abuja was executed and delivered during Adelami’s service period.

His sterling performances, years of experience and reputation as an astute manager of resources with enviable integrity saw Adelami being recalled to the National Assembly in 2000 to strengthen the Finance Department. Three years later, he was made the Head of the Finance and Accounts Department. He remained in this position till 2007 when he was confirmed as a Director. The following year, he was nominated for a one year senior management course at the prestigious National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.

After the completion of his course at the Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies in 2008, he was assigned a bigger task of pioneering the newly created Department of Procurement and Supplies. Without a single trained staff in procurement processes, Adelami who relishes challenges embarked on the rigorous process of staff training and nurtured the department to an enviable position. In 2014, he was promoted to the position of Secretary (Permanent Secretary), Directorate of Procurement, Estate and Works. A position he held until he was appointed as the Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly.

He remained the Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly until his retirement in April 2018.

PRESS STATEMENT

GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA HAS NOT APPOINTED NURTW CHAIRMAN

The attention of the Ondo State Government has been brought to the misleading rumour of appointment of a new chairman for the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the State.

We wish to state unequivocally that the Governor has not approved anyone as the chairman of the NURTW or the Parks Management Committee. The Governor is primarily concerned about delivering the dividends of democracy to the good people of Ondo state and that has preoccupied his mind more at the moment.

We frown at anyone using the name of the Governor to cause unnecessary rancour within their respective organizations. The government of Ondo state under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa will not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone who may attempt to truncate the peace of the state under the guise of group agitations and ambition.

OBIRI SONS AND DAUGHTERS DONATE LAPTOPS TO ST PAUL'S ANGLICAN HIGH SCHOOL OKITIPUPA AS THE CHURCH ALSO RECEIVES CASH

Ecomiums as the Obiri Sons and Daughters donated laptops to St Paul's Anglican High School, Lebi Street, Okitipupa in honour of their late grand father, Chief Joseph Ajibowa Obiri, the first Oyegbata of Ikale land.

According to him, the representative of Obiri family, Prince Sanya Adegbenro said the donation of the laptops to the school ought to have come up since April but due to some circumstances beyond their control led to the postponement of the activities.

The donation of the laptops was carried out on Friday 15th December, 2023 at the school premises, Lebi Street, Okitipupa in area of Ondo State.

Adegbenro said some people tried to hijack it when they heard about the scenario that Obiri family was planning to donate laptops to a particular school for the benefit of the respective students of the school saying after he had engaged some people to search for the school, he said the response he got from them was that truly, St Paul's Anglican Church was at lebi street, Okitipupa but they were not sure if there is a secondary school as well.

"It took the family some months to locate St Paul's Anglican High School where we are today through the assistance of one of the family members, Pastor Oyewole Lanre who insisted that the elder brother of his own mother Reverend Joistrel Obiri who happened to be the son of Chief Joseph Ajibowa Obiri was buried at St Paul's Anglican Church Lebi Street, Okitipupa on 2nd April, 1987 at age of 82 years", he affirmed.

The representative said the information he received from Pastor Lanre Oyewole gave him confidence that if any school might want to benefit this, it should be the school of the church, because, the church that owned the school is where one of Obiri sons was buried.

He however delivered a short message sent by the head of Obiri family, Dr. Nicholas I. Obiri. In his short remark, "The sons and daughters of Chief Joseph Ajibowa Obiri (my father's father) are proud members of the community and wish to see good things happen in the community. We hope that these laptops will be helpful in generating good citizens of the community", Dr. Nichols I. Obiri said.

The School Principal, Mr Fashakin Timothy who was presented with one of the laptops, said the students of the school are now better equipped to write this year’s SSCE Examination.

"Now seeing these things as an educational instruments to help the young ones", he said

Mr Fashakin who appreciated the donours of the laptops said the school had been logging for something like that but in appropriate time, it came during his own time when they needed it mostly.

"Now seeing these things as an educational instruments to help the young ones", he added.

Earlier, the Vical of St Paul's Anglican Church, Lebi Street, Okitipupa, Venerable Oluitan Joshua had stated that the school is grateful for this donation which will significantly assist the students performance in the senior school certificate exterminations (SSCE) and as well as the cash given to the church.

The Venerable however appreciated the Baale of Isale - Ebute His Highness (Baale) Vincent E. Atamu for deeming it feet to witness the event despite his busy schedule.

Oluitan said the Baale owned him a visit before the year runs out, he explained how the St Paul's Anglican Church was moved from Isale - Ebute in 1977 to Lebi, that in 2009/2010, the church had to go back there that the church in Isale - Ebute must not die which they later revived but is no longer called St Paul's Anglican Church but Holy Trinity Anglican Church while berating the people who claimed that there is no secondary school called St Paul's Anglican High School.

"I think they are just being wicked, this school is one of pioneer schools in this town and one of few government approved schools in Okitipupa. I think is a good thing to see this kind of thing given back to the community", he affirmed.

He appreciated God for using the family for the kind of gesture and assured the family that the school will make use of the laptops very well.

"Someone from the school came to me that they needed Laptop, they needed printer, I said this will come in it's own time, he said okay, that they will want to save money and I said, go ahead, but I knowing fully well, in the next 3 years from the source.

"Even, if they want to raise the money, they can't buy it and we want to buy just only one laptop and printer. See how God has blessed us with 7 Laptops without paying any dime, that's God. You see when God chose to do a thing, he doesn't need our efforts, all he needs, is our prayers, cooperation and faith", he said.

He therefore appreciated the donors for their gestures saying the God Almighty will always be with them and enriched their pockets in miraculous way.

The traditional ruler of Isale - Ebute in Okitipupa, His Highness (BAALE) Vincent E. Atamu, said he had known Obiri family for a decade and that since he had known the family, they have never one day disappointed him.

"I think it's first of its kind, this family is a wonderful family in my community, this family is unforgettable whether they were born and bread in that community saying never stopped from doing one project or the other in the community.

"I used to say it that if all families that were rear, they born and bread in that community will go and come back and give to the community, the community would have been so developed, if all we go and come back and and give back to the church where their parents, their forr father began, even the church would have developed more than this.

The traditional ruler said he was so privileged and happy to be part of of that community where these people come from, he said none of them residing there except the one representing the family now used to come there for visiting and come to me and say Kabiesi I have been sent to give you kola (Gift).

"The venerable have prayed that this Obiri family, God will continue to lead them arise, God will continue to bless them abundantly, your health will not fade, God will continue to take care of them, both female and male, those that are in Nigeria, those that are outside the country, God will continue to look and take care of them ", he prayed.

The event was well attended by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), Staff, Teachers, Students of the school and members of St Paul's Anglican Church.

*At the point of death, a renowned civil servant, Tom Smith called his children and after praying for them, advised them to follow his footsteps so that they can have their peace of mind in life.*

*The elderst child, Elizabeth, a graduate, looked at the other siblings and yelled, "Daddy, its unfortunate you are dying without a penny in your bank account. It is a pity you're leaving us the same wretched life you lived. Personally, I can't emulate you, she continued. Other fathers in the neighbourhood that you tag as being corrupt, thieves of public funds left houses and properties for their children; See the kind of comfortable life they live and the schools they attend. You're dying after 35 years of public service with just one rickety car. The only honour u have in this room is the citation of an award you won as the best Public Service Accountant when we were not even born; Even this house we live in is a rented apartment, sorry, I can't emulate you. You're dying of a common disease and we can't even fly you outside the country like the others do. How can we cater for our mum and the little ones by living like you did in this part of the world..How? Daddy please let's chart our own course, let's paddle our own canoe"*

Few days later, their father gave up the spirit.

*Three years after, Elizabeth finished her Masters Degree. She applied for a job and went for an interview in a multinational company.*

*The interview panel had already penciled down a candidate for the highly coveted post but wanted to complete the formality of interviewing all applicants on the list.*

*As soon as Elizabeth sat before the interview panel, the Chairman of the committee looked through her CV, nodded and asked,*

*"Hi Miss Smith, tell us a bit about yourself" and Elizabeth replied, "I am Elizabeth Smith. My Dad, the late Tom Smith was the Regional Head accountant of the National Insurance, and also served as Administrator of Public Health for many yesrs...." But the Chairman cuts in, Oh my God, you are the daughter of Mr Tom Smith? I can't believe it...He turned to other members and said "This Smith man was the one that signed my membership form into the Institute of Chartered Administrators when he served in our district in the North and his recommendation earned me where I am today. It was really difficult getting a man in such high office to do that during those years. You needed to be rich to get your form signed but the amazing thing is, he did all these free. I didn't even know his address, he never knew me from Adam. He just did it for me. I returned to his office after a year only to hear he was transferred. That was it and I never heard from him again. He turned to Elizabeth; "I have no question for you, consider yourself as having gotten this job, resume tomorrow, your letter will be waiting for you. For how your dad remained honest and served everyone with diligence, I trust you'll follow his path in this job*

*Elizabeth Smith became the Corporate Affairs Manager of the company with two cars, one official and one for private use, attached to the office, with a duplex and two drivers and a salary of £250,000 per month excluding allowances and other costs when she travels outside the country*

*After two years of working in the company, the Group Managing Director of the company came from America to announce his intention to resign and needed a replacement. A personality with high integrity was sought after, again the company's Consultant nominated Elizabeth Smith*

*In an interview, she was asked the secret of her success and the sudden sky rocketing profile. ...And in tears, she replied, my Daddy paved these ways for me. It was after he died that I knew that he was financially poor but fabulously rich in integrity, discipline and honesty. She was asked again, why she is weeping since she is no longer a kid as to miss her dad still after a long time. She replied, "At the point of death, I insulted my dad for being an honest man of integrity. I hope he will forgive me in his grave now. I didn't work for all these, he did it for me to just walk in.*

*So finally she was asked," Will you follow your father's foot steps as he requested? And her simple answer was, "l have already been doing that. I have met a number of people after his death and I haven't seen or heard anyone say a word against my dad's life in public service. I now adore the man, I have a big picture of him in my living room and my office. He deserves whatever I have after God.*

*Are you like Tom Smith? It pays to build a name, the reward doesn't come quickly but it will come however long it may take and it lasts longer.*

*WHAT LEGACY ARE YOU LAYING UP FOR YOUR CHILDREN?

*Integrity, discipline, self control and fear of God make a man wealthy, not the fat bank account, luxurious cars and mansions. Leave a good heritage for your children and the next generation. Are you building a good name for your children or a fat bank account? Money fades, fame goes, cars get out of system but a good name stays on forever.*
