"Nigerians at risk of CANCER!!!" - NICRAT

According to a recent statement by the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (NICRAT), cancer cases are expected to rise in Nigeria in the coming years.

The NICRAT expressed concern over the discovery of a cancer-causing chemicals in one of the popular Indomie noodle brands – special chicken flavour. The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NICRAT, Usman Aliyu, emphasized that this discovery should be a major concern to Nigerians.

Isma’ila Maihanchi, house of Representatives member-elect for Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency in Taraba State, has passed away at the age of 37. Reports are that he died at the National Hospital in Abuja after a brief illness in the early hours of Saturday.

Maihanchi, who ran under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), won the election by defeating the incumbent House of Representatives member, Kasimu Maigari.

Prior to his election, Maihanchi served as a Special Adviser to Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, and was also the Secretary of the PDP in Taraba State. His remains are scheduled to be interred in accordance with Islamic rites later in the day.

May his soul rest in peace 🕊️.

Lagos State Government has expressed displeasure with the promoters of the “Gangs of Lagos” film/series over what it described as “total abomination” adding that the movie portrayed the culture of the State in negative limelight.

Reacting, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf said the Ministry, being the regulatory body and custodian of the culture of Lagos, said the film/series is “very unprofessional and misleading while its content is derogatory of our culture”.

“It is an unjust profiling of a people and culture as being barbaric and nefarious. It depicts a gang of murderers rampaging across the State,” she added.

Akinbile-Yussuf in her submission, stressed that “the Eyo Masquerade” as portrayed in the movie is “equally used as a symbol of honour for remarkable historical events”.

“It signifies a sweeping renewal, a purification ritual to usher in a new beginning, a beckoning of new light, acknowledging the blessings of the ancestors of Lagosians,” she opined.
