How bad is the world really becoming?
Once upon a time, children were seen as blessings and were cared for by everyone in the neighborhood. Everyone saw his or her neighbor's child as their own and would do whatever was possible to protect, teach, and even correct them whenever they were going off-route. Fast forward to 2010, and a turn and shift from morals began to grow. Kids became more disrespectful, parents lost control of their children, and neighbors lost the right to correct kids in the hood because it would be seen as wicked and evil.
@2020, we saw kids giving birth to kids. Who goes to train who?
So bad that parents encourage bad behaviors in their children; a correction from anyone is now seen as child abuse; kids no longer assist their parents (it's a disturbance). Young lads' smoke, take alcohol, and abuse drugs like norms; God has been removed from the picture and hearts; it's all about money, S*x, dressing, material possessions, drugs, alcoholism, and all manner of negativities.
How did we get here?
Teachers are scared of punishing students in schools when they misbehave because he or she would risk being sued and end up losing their job if they dare to.
Well, it shall be a horrible sight to behold in another 10 years to come; 20 would be disastrous, as many would pray not to live to witness the horror of these new generations that have been raised in lawlessness, lack of respect, no fear for crime, no regard for God, and great passion about making money no matter the cost and price to pay. What is left to be done by our generation that didn't happen in S***m and Gomorrah that warranted total destruction of the city and it's dwellers by God with fire?

Seven residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) abducted from Sagwari Estate in Bwari Area Council have been released by their abductors.

LEADERSHIP had reported that gunmen raided the estate located opposite Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Dutse, around 8pm penultimate Sunday and abducted 10 residents.

Their abductors gave a deadline for the payment of ransom, and failure of the family to meet their demand led to the killing of one of the victims, Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar.

Other captives murdered were Talatu Salihu, a 400 level student of Library and Information Science, Bayero University Kano (BUK); Akpagher Joseph Terzungwe, and 13-year-old Mitchell Ariyo.

After killing them, the kidnappers raised the ransom of the remaining victims and set a deadline of Wednesday.

A resident who preferred anonimity in the area disclosed that the seven remaining victims, a female hotel receptionist, a mother and her three children, as well as two little children, had been released to their respective family members.

He, however, disclosed that both families have moved away to undisclosed location.

The development comes after the four remaining siblings of late Nabeeha Al-Kadriyah, who was killed in captivity, regained their freedom late Saturday night.

Recall that the Al-Kadriyar sisters were abducted alongside their father early January.

After killing the Nabeeha, the bandits had raised the ransom from N60 million to N100 million, threatening to kill the remaining sisters.

A man in France on Sunday confessed to killing his three children and turned himself in, said prosecutors and a police source.

“A man presented himself to the police in Dieppe (Seine-Maritime) to report that he had killed his three children,” the public prosecutor said, referring to the town in the northern French region of Normandy.

The bodies of two children were then found in the town of Alfortville, in the southeastern suburbs of Paris, where the father lives.

“Two deaths have been confirmed,” said the public prosecutor.

The children were stabbed to death, said a police source, without providing other details on the children or any information about the third child.

The father, who was born in 1982, had been convicted of domestic violence in 2021, said a source close to the case.

A restraining order against him was issued but subsequently lifted.

The man was taken into police custody, the prosecutors said.

Pastor commits su***de after leaks on church’s WhatsApp group

A Christian cleric of the United Methodist Church identified as Oscar Mukahanana reportedly committed su***de following the leakage of his adultery scandal on the church’s WhatsApp group.

The cleric who was a Reverend at the Harare East District Superintendent in Zimbabwe, engaged in an extra-marital affair with a female youth in the church.

There were reports that the audio of his secret s*xual engagement with the said lady leaked on the WhatsApp group of the church.

He talked about how his wild excitement after meeting the lady adding that he had a good session before her menstrual cycle.

After the audio leaked on the WhatsApp group, Mukahanana’s church members started sharing the leaked conversation making him an object of mockery.

Local media said they even created memes, ridiculing the District Superintendent over the adultery scandal.

Mukahanana who felt humiliated and embarrassed over the matter then committed su***de on Friday when he could not withstand the shame.

The UMC Harare District, while reacting to the incident said in a statement, “It is with heavy heart to announce to you the untimely death of our Beloveth District Superintendent Rev Oscar Mukahanana of the Harare East District.

“The Office of the Bishop shall be informing the church of developments and funeral arrangements. As a Church, you are being cordially requested to support the Mukahanana family through your prayers.”

Back in History...

Today is about Dina Sanichar.

Dina Sanichar was raised by wolves in India's Uttar Pradesh jungle until hunters found him in 1867 and brought him to an orphanage. He would later serve as Rudyard Kipling's inspiration for the character of Mowgli.

There, missionaries tried to teach him all the things he never learned, starting with the basics: walking and talking. However, the gulf between human behavior and animal instinct proved too wide for Dina Sanichar to overcome. The story of the real-life Mowgli didn’t end the way the Disney version did.

During his stay at the Sikandra Mission Orphanage, Sanichar was given a second name: “Wolf Boy.” The missionaries thought it suited him because they believed he was raised by wild animals and had never experienced human contact in his life.

According to their accounts, Sanichar’s behavior resembled that of an animal more than it did a human’s. He walked around on all fours and had difficulty standing on his own two feet. He only ate raw meat and gnawed on bones to sharpen his teeth.

After the striker travelled back to Carrington training ground on the coach from Turf Moor, crashed his £700,000 Rolls Royce, though he was fortunately left unhurt.

Images emerged online showing that his car had been dented and sat on the side of the road. Police were present and had the scene cornered off.

The Sun reports that was ‘shaken’ but ultimately unhurt following the crash.

‘The Black Book’ review: Richard Mofe-Damijo’s struggle over lynched son resonates with

The Black Book is the perfect movie for Nigerians seeking justice for late singer, Mohbad as the film highlights Richard Mofe-Damijo’s (Edima) battle with the underworld over his murdered son, Damilola Edima (Olumide Oworu).

The narrative strikes a chord with the audience and sheds light on the pervasive corruption problems in Nigerian society as Editi Effiong treats Nollywood lovers to a Hollywood-esque movie.

The Black Book, with its artistic glitz, walks in and takes its place amid Nollywood’s best in 2023.

As the socio-political clime in Nigeria is a theatre, justice is the song on all masses’ lips. It does not come in free rhyme. It is punctuated by gasps of emotional revenge and lynch. At the moment when the clime in Nigeria is not sane, movie lovers can sing the songs of Richard Mofe-Damijo, which releases a storyline that will incorporate into their thoughts.

Casting a line-up of talented actors such as Richard Mofe-Damijo himself, Sam Dede, Alex Osifo, Iretiola Doyle, Patrick Doyle, Femi Branch, Olumide Oworu, Bimbo Manuel, Boki Ofodile, Nobert Young, Shaffy Bello among others, A Black Book traces the inevitable scourge of corruption among top officials of oil and gas in the metropolitan city of Lagos and Kaduna. Alongside unknotting the puzzle of the question on corruption, the story drags along the fate of a hitman-turned-deacon whose past woes come haunting him.

Synopsis
The Black Book opens up its plot via the death of the husband and infant of Professor Craig (Bimbo Akintola), the CEO of the Nigeria Energy & Oil Company, who is unfortunate to be on the receiving end of a counter-attack for revealing dark secrets of corruption in the ministry.

To avert further investigation, the plotters pin the kidnap and death on an innocent Damilola Edima (Olumide Oworu), son of Paul Edima(Richard Mofe-Damijo) who was formerly part of the kingpin gang that traded in drug trafficking. Paul had left the group, gone low, and handed a black book to the General after a rift.

In order to avenge his son’s death, Paul abandons his deaconship, goes after the mastermind and former boss, General Issa (Alex Usifo). He eventually wins and retrieves the black book.

Thematic Allure
A Black Book goes back into history to fish out an important chapter in the influence of power. The history — a General of a nation’s armed force peddling hard drugs — does affirm that some people are above the law, quite unfortunately. General Issa builds a strong empire of young officers who peddle hard drugs for him and take away anyone who tries to stop him. This opens the twist of Victoria’s mother, an investigative journalist, who is killed by Paul Edima.

It turns out well that the flashbacks consolidate the present. Inevitably. Paul’s deaconship does not stop his past from haunting him. The same man who ordered him to kill an investigative journalist, albeit inadvertently, uses his son as a sacrificial lamb for a murder criminal. This shows an extent to the dirty, long wand of political power. First, it’s Professor Craig’s infant and husband. Then again, it’s innocent Damilola.

Realistically, the movie does not fail to acknowledge the truth that Paul is not only fighting General Issa but also the few corrupt Police corps and media houses, which are relatively tools in politicians’ devilish workshop.

Cinematographic Allure
The character of Richard Mofe-Damijo as Paul, alongside storyline, effects and other paraphernalia of graphics, might make one remember the character of famous Hollywood John Wick. The producer of the movie deserves an accolade for giving the movie a perfect cinematography that incorporates The Black Book as an “action” movie.

Actions (stunts, shotgun duel, bomb blasts, vehicle chase) might be exaggerated but still delivered the message. Costumes, lightings, and effects – all shot in nice camera angles – are perfect.

Ratings
The Black Book does have a few flaws. While casting can be complimented, it seems to have created loads of headaches for producers to film a balanced plot. In other words, the appearance of popular faces might have pushed producers to use a stone to kill a flight of birds.

As the movie drags to its end, the plot appears to lose precision. Paul is on a mission to avenge his son’s death but finds himself looking to protect Victoria, the daughter of the investigative journalist whom he killed during his hit days.

The introduction of Hijabi women with sophisticated rifles and a bunch of armed men in vans is chaotic. It creates a question of “how come” as it seems they are a band of terrorists. This makes one wonder if Paul truly repented of his sins or faked it.

However, it takes a 7/10.

Nigerian singer, Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, has revealed the epitaph she wants on her grave.

The 30-year-old said she wants her loved ones to write: “She lived life on her own terms”.

She disclosed this when she featured as a guest in the latest episode of the Tea With Tay podcast hosted by actor, Temisan Emmanuel Ahwieh, aka Taymesan.

Teni said, “My father died when I was two years old. If you die today, life goes on. You don’t get to express yourself.

“Expressing yourself is very important. The people that judge you, they will die too. So, they would die with their own stories. You die with your own story. I’m living my life because this is my terms to let the world know who I am.

“It’s my terms to sing when I’m feeling down, when I’m feeling up. It’s my terms to express myself. I’m not going to be here forever. None of us are leaving this world alive.

“On my grave, I want them to write, ‘She lived life on her own terms.’ Yes, I want to die happy. I’m going to die empty.

“A lot of people are carrying so much greatness in them but are too afraid to express themselves. Trust me, the graveyard is full of so many dreams and talents. Things that could have changed the world.”

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given approval for the construction of 1,000 houses in several states, including Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger, and Benue.

The Police in Delta State, South-south Nigeria, said they have arrested “over hundred gay suspects in a hotel carrying out a gay wedding ceremony”.

The police, who disclosed this in a tweet from their official Twitter hand at about 9:06 a.m. on Tuesday, said the suspects would be paraded shortly.

Homos*xual relationships are illegal in Nigeria.

Nigeria’s anti-gay law, enacted in January 2014 by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration, stipulates a 14-year prison term for anyone convicted of having s*x with members of the same s*x.

The Nigerian government put the law to the test for the first time in December 2019 when 47 men arrested by the police in a hotel in Lagos the previous year were arraigned in court, accused of publicly displaying affection for members of the same s*x.
