I was struggling with the idea of creating a page for some time now. Struggling because some part of me feels like this is some vain attempt at getting attention and the other part of me wants to get my work out there.
For many of you who know me personally, you know that I have very itchy hands. I’ve dabbled in a lot of different creative expressions over the years, and I think I’ve finally figured out my preferred mode of output.
I love writing. To me, there’s no other medium that can unlock both the creator’s and the receiver’s imagination than through the power of words. Both the writer and the reader has to participate in reading. The writer’s job is to convey the story in a comprehensive manner and the reader has the responsibility of creating the world of the author. It’s a powerful tool, and you’ll probably see a little bit of my personal thoughts and articles about things that I’m passionate about.
Secondly, I will shoot.
Let’s get it out of the way: The main driver to starting this page was the Canon EOS Youth Ambassador program (UPDATE: I got appointed!). After an ordeal of almost 8 months, I was among the 6 chosen to be Canon’s first ever batch of EOS Youth Ambassadors. This means that more is now expected of me. I’ll be sharing more photos and videos through this platform. A page is an ideal place to host my many myriads of photography, and you can expect to see plenty of updates about the Youth Ambassador journey here. Of course, if you have any questions about photography, I’m always willing to help (with or without the title of ambassador).
Do expect to see plenty of my own videos as well. Videos are a powerful medium for sharing, and I’m going to take advantage of the skills I have in this industry. Some short skits are expected as well as my reviews, opinions and the millennial v-logs.
Lastly, I will share.
The whole purpose of a page is to share. I hope my content can be practical, useful and inspiring. There’s a lot of content out there, but I hope that my genuineness shows in the things I say. And that’s enough for me.
Thank you for accompanying me on this journey. Don’t know how long this page will keep going, but your support means the world to me.
Godspeed,
Reuben Liu
