Anti corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested three Small holders farmer fertilizer revolving fund of Malawi (SFFRFM) staff members and one guard for allegedly being involved in corruption practice over Affordable Inputs Programs (AIP) at Benga Depot in Nkhotakota.

Through the press statement released today signed by ACB principal public relations officer, Egrita Ndala says the suspects are two salesclerk, Maria Chilinda and Gift Mkanda, the Porter, Lovemore Kandu and the Guard, Wilson Masanjala.

Meanwhile, these four are in police custody awaiting to be taken to court to answer the charges.

ACB received the complaint on 16th of November, 2023 alleging SFFRFM salesclerks demanding some extra money from beneficiaries in order for beneficiaries to buy the inputs.

Silver Strikers have tasted their first defeat in the 2023 TNM Super League following a 1-0 loss at the hands of Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.

The match which took place at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, on Thursday afternoon was rocked by controversy as the bankers walked away with a send off involving the defender, Nickson Mwase in the 92nd minute of the match.

Silver's coach, De Jong, his assistant, Peter Mgangira and goal keeper trainer, Padambo were also washed with matching orders which let them watch the remainder of the match behind the fence.

At the end of the match, Francis Mkonda was named man of the match after his great performance.

Sliver strikers remain at 25 points which leaves them second in the log table, a point short of Bullets who are at 26 points.

Bankers face Extreme FC on Wednesday, 26th July, 2023 at Civo stadium in Lilongwe while Wanderers welcome Blue Eagles at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday, 23rd July, 2023.

Malawi prolific forward, Chawanangwa Kaonga, has been voted player of the Tournament for the just ended Hollywood Bets COSAFA Cup 2023 edition.

Kaonga was also voted man of the match twice against Seychelles and South Africa on Friday and today respectively after his sensetional football display in the tournament.

Flames is the only team that has produced more men of the matches than any other team such as Alick Lungu,Patrick Mwaungulu and Chimwemwe Idana were awarded men of the matches against Zambia, Comoros and Lesotho respectively.

An out going student of Malawi University of Science and Technology, identified as Charity Iman passed on late yesterday 15 July 2023 at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.

Miss Catherine died after fighting cancer for sometime, and her burial took place earlier today in the afternoon at Lunzu.

The deceased, was an intern working with Malawi National Council of sports under the department of sports Development at their head office, Blantyre.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Malawi have finished fourth in the Hollywood Bets COSAFA Cup 2023 following a 5-3 loss to the hosts, South Africa on post-match penalties despite their glamoring display.

Jacama Kumwembe missed the fourth penalty after he was denied by woodwork and failed to level the scores to grant the third place to the Bafana-bafana.

Meanwhile, Chawanangwa Kaonga was named man of the match for a second time.

While back in the TNM super league, big teams continue to lose points as the battle stiffens.

MANEB TO ADMISTER DIFFERED EXAMS TO FOUR AT BULALA

The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) says it will administer differed examinations to four students whose papers were stolen in the room they were kept, in the night of Sunday, 9 July, 2023 at Bulala Community Day Secondary School in Mzimba.

In a statement MANEB has released on 11th July, the thieves only tampered with already written scripts of four students in subjects of Agriculture 1, Mathematics 1&2, English 1, 2&3, Biology 1, Social and Life skills 1 and 2.

"Security has since been enhanced at the storage facility while police are conducting investigations into the matter," reads part of the statement.

It further states that the papers will be administered from Thursday 16th July to Sunday 19th July 2023. A comprehensive timetable for the examinations has been sent to the school.

MANEB started administering MSCE examinations from Tuesday 27th July and task is expected to end on Friday 21st July 2023.

Flames return to action this afternoon in the fight for a semi-final slot in the Hollywood Bets COSAFA Cup 2023 edition.

Mabedi's side takes on Comoros Island who are coming from a loss at the hands of the defending champions, Zambia in the match which kicks off at three o'clock central African time (15:00hrs) at Moses Mabhida Stadium ind Durban.

Malawi will capitalize on the momentum from the previous win over Seychelles to book themselves a place in the semis.

Flames just need a point to automatically qualify for the semi final having already accumulated six points from the two games played in the tournament.

The three previous encounters against Comoros favour Malawi with three wins and a loss from four games played between 2017 and 2021, the latest being a loss for Malawi.

Forum For National Development (FND) has asked National Bank of Malawi to deal with the situation arising from Know Your Customer (KYC) activity and provide solutions immediately.

In a press statement signed by the chairperson Bright Kampaundi and the national coordinator Fryson Chodzi, the organization is dismayed with the act of the bank which among others brings suffering to its customers.

Many customers have raised concerns on social media over the way the bank is handling the process of KYC.

There is congestion in most branches of NB across the country as people are queuing for long hours before they can be assisted.

The situation has been worse in some areas as elderly people and mothers with babies are obliged to also stand on lines.

Meanwhile, the bank has extended the period for the activity until 31st August, 2023 to ensure that all members update their accounts smoothly.

THIRD CLEAN SHEET FOR MABEDI

Malawi has taken its tally to six points topping group B table in two games played after beating Seychelles in a 2-0 thriller in which both Lanjesi Nkhoma and Jacama Kumwembe registered on the score sheet.

The game that took place at King Zwelithini Stadium in South Africa, saw Malawi clinching a second clean sheet at the COSAFA Cup and a third one since Patrick Mabedi took charge of the team in June.

Currently, Flames have managed to forward three goals and concede none in two matches played at the tournament.

Meanwhile, Malawi has played four games since Mabedi took over from Marinica, drawing twice against Mozambique and Ethiopia and winning twice against Zambia and Seychelles while conceding only once.

The team flooded with young stars faces, Comoros on Tuesday, 11 July, 2023 at Chatsworth Stadium from 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

U.N. ADVANCES AI

For the first time in history, robots have responded to questions and told reporters that they can make better-leaders than humans during a press conference.

The event took place as part of International Telecommunication Union, Artificial Intelligence for Good' global summit in Geneva, Switzerland on Friday, July 07, 2023.

Nine AI-enabled humanoid robots sat or stood with their creators at a podium, which the United Nation's International Telecommunication Union called the word's first news conference featuring humanoid social robots.

Among others, Sophia is first robot innovation ambassador for the U.N. Development Program, Grace is described as the world's most advanced humanoid health care robot, and Desdemona, a rock star robot.

Surprisingly, AI powered robots which among others resembled their masters, dismissed fears of taking away human jobs and rebellion against their masters as they claimed that their masters treat them well.

Instead, they assured reporters that they would create an effective synergy with humans in order to work effectively without any bias like humans since they don't have emotions.

The event was part of the AI for Good Global Summit, meant to illustrate how new technology can support the U.N's goals for sustainable development.

TWITTER-THREADS BATTLE NOT OVER

Twitter's lawyer, Alex Spiro has threatened to take a legal action against Meta boss, Mark Zuckerberg following the release of Threads App which is ironically a copy of Twitter.

Spiro has initially written a letter to Meta stating that his client company intends to strictly enforce its intellectual property rights as he believes the former Twitter employees have been instrumental in the development of Twitter twin sister, Threads .

TWITTER'S RIVAL IN TOWN

Meta who owns Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp, has launched a new app, "Threads" that works similar to Twitter despite having a different font.

The new app whose features are also similar to Twitter, has received praise having already clinched at least 10 million subscriptions at the moment.

Threads is designed as a place to share public real-time text updates, just like Twitter with posts being up to 500 characters long including links, photos, and videos of up to five minutes.

The app ensures that all posts appear in a timeline, and can be liked, reposted, replied to, and shared elsewhere. However, posts don't appear chronologically, and there seems to be no way to make it so.

Just like Elon's Twitter, users will be able to follow celebrities, athletes, and friends, many of whom will have jumped over from Instagram.

Currently, the app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

A Katandula afotokoza izi kutsatira mpungwepungwe womwe wabuka pakati kampaniyi ndi ogula komanso anthu ena okhudzidwa monga boma, omwe akudandaula kuti mitengo ya shuga ndiyokwera kwambiri m'dziko muno.

"Ngakhale kuti ndi zomveka komanso zosangalatsa kwa ogula shuga omwe akufuna titsitse mitengo yogulitsira shugayi, chilungamo chake n'chakuti izi zikhoza kubweretsa mavuto ochuluka monga zinachitikira chaka chatha (2022) pakati pa April ndi May, pamene mitengo yogulira shugayu yinakwera kamba ka kusowa kwake pamsika," a Katandula anafotokoza.
