I FOUND MY VOICE THRU POETRY
In my time of restless nights,
I stare at the ceiling,
As those horrific memories
Keep flashing back.
All that I heard was his voice in my head.
He had power,
I tried fighting,
But was plastic weighted,
The pain was unbearable.
I cried
For help,
As pain took the part of me,
But no one heard me,
And yet I found peace thru poetry.
Have you heard of freedom of speech?
My voice rings and reigns,
Carrying the weight of those
Cries left unheard.
The earth mother's
Carrying the bodies of those that
Couldn't resist the pain.
The blood that has been
Dripping for decades is absorbed.
Some walk carrying
The pain around us,
While putting huge smiles
On their faces and come back
To the same environment that broke them.
May you find the courage to
Stay out of pain.
A life lived in
Fear is half lived.
Their cravings for our blood
Will be doubled and tripled
But "NO" is now a
Complete sentence.
