On this historic day in Liberia, the U.S. delegation, led by Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, and Chargé d’Affaires Catherine Rodriguez joined the diplomatic corps and thousands of Liberians to witness Joseph N. Boakai be sworn in as President of the Republic of Liberia.

It was an honor to know that President Boakai chose to swear his oath of office on the Bible gifted to him by U.S. President George W. Bush during his 2008 visit.

Cheers to a peaceful transition of power to the oldest republic in Africa and a bright future for “Mama Liberia.” 🇺🇸🇱🇷
