Margibi County Senator Nathaniel McGill's Gibi and Bulorquelleh road project appears to have been abandoned. Citizens are urging the senator to fulfill his promise.

The road rehabilitation project, which was promised by Senator Nathaniel McGill during the 2023 elections, has reportedly been abandoned, raising serious concern among residents of Gibi and Bulorquelleh areas in Margibi County.

The roads are currently in a deplorable state, and this was one of the senator's major campaign promises that significantly contributed to his success.

During the heat of the 2023 election, Senator Nathaniel McGill informed the citizens of these areas that after winning the senatorial election in the county, he could single-handedly pave these major roads in both districts 4 and 5 of the county.

However, after being announced as the senator of Margibi, the CDC lawmaker McGill has been heard in a telephone conversation with Classic FM Manager Emmanuel Delgeh, disclosing that the roads project, as promised by him, has stopped due to the defeat of former President George Weah. He expressed that President Boakai is now in position, and it is his responsibility to construct roads across the country.

During the conversation, McGill warned Emmanuel Delgeh to desist from criticizing his operation and threatened Manager Delgeh, stating that if he fails to desist, further action will be taken against him.

After listening to Senator Nathaniel McGill's statement and threats to the manager during the Tuesday Edition of the Classic Breakfast Show, citizens of these areas, including other district residents, expressed serious disappointment in the senator's conversation, specifically regarding the rehabilitation or paving of the Gibi and Bulorquelleh road projects.

They stated that Senator McGill should not be holding President Boakai responsible for a project he has promised to do for the citizens, but rather he should lobby and fulfill his promises.

At the same time, the residents highlighted that the roads have become damaged, hindering their easy movement. They used this medium to call on Senator Nathaniel McGill to address this issue as soon as possible.

The abandoned road projects have not only created harm for the citizens of these areas but have also denied them access to the county capital, Kakata.

Kakata, Margibi County – In her Monday, July 8, 2024 late appearance on Radio Joy Africa which was summon cast on other media institutions in Kakata, Superintendent Victoria Wolobah Duncan publicly called for the reduction of the C.H. Rennie 150 – bed capacity project to a 100 – bed capacity, something which accordingly has spark out serious argument among citizens.

The Margibi County Superintendent Duncan noted that the proposed county referral hospital project is huge indicating that she has initiated discussions with the county project planner and her personal engineer to redesign the project.

“When we came, we met one hundred fifty proposed building projects for C.H. Rennie which I believe is too huge for a small county like Margibi. I have spoken with my project planner and I’m bringing my engineer for us to redesign that project plan”. Superintendent Victoria Wolobah Duncan said.

It can be recalled in 2021, Margibi County only referral hospital which contributed to nearby counties gutted by fire and destroyed the hospital original 85 – bed capacity.

This led the former ruling CDC Government of former President George Weah promised to build a new two – story building that would commensurate with a modern health facility but such promised was not met under his watch.

The hospital when constructed will carter to about 250,000 people in Margibi, Montserrado, B**g, Grand Bassa and Gbarpolu counties.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Victoria Wolobah Duncan recent statement has made opposition including partisans of the Unity Party Margibi Chapter blast at her plan to reduce the hospital’s project.

“Superintendent Victoria Duncan wants to make Margibi County noisy for us, while she will sit and say the hospital project should be reduce when it carters to several individuals including neighboring counties”. The Citizens said.

They asserted that 150 – bed hospital when constructed will give the county a decent health facility and create more space for smooth operation by health workers.

As the situation unfolds, many individuals have disclosed that Superintendent Victoria Wolobah Duncan is not proceeding by her function as the grand jury of the county but rather taking issues in her own hands.

Margibi County - Unity Party Margibi Chapter Auxiliaries has planned to stage a peaceful protest at major areas in two weeks, in demand of their fair share of the national cake, if President Boakai refused to address their plates.

During a major press conference Thursday at the Untiy Party headquarters in Kakata, several groups including the Unity Party Auxiliaries Council, teachers association, Marketing association, motorcycle union, among other groups who supported the presidential bid of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai in Margibi disclosed a two week plan protest if the Liberian leader fails to address their plates.

The group also expressed grave concern and observations of prevailing circumstances surrounding the appointments process of government officials into prominent public offices by President Joseph Boakai, leaving officials of the Unity Party in Margibi that struggle during the heat of the campaign without obtaining any Ministerial position.

Meanwhile, the Unity Party Margibi Chapter Auxiliaries Council and other groups noted that President Boakai is currently appointing people who fought against the party and threatened their lives for employment for the past administration instead of nominating partisans of the Unity Party who struggled with him.

At the same time, they want President Joseph Boakai to revoke his appointment of James Armah Massaquoi for the position of Deputy Minister for Administration, at the Ministry of Education something indicated they said, Mr. Massaquoi Vigorously campaigned against the party during the 2023 elections.

They reaffirmed their committed to support the Rescue Mission but called on the president to do the needful.

Receiving groups press statement, the Secretary General of Unity Party Margibi Chapter O Jay Morris lauded the Auxiliary council and other group of supporters of the party for peacefully handling their disenchantments to the county leadership.

Mr. Morris assured UP Margibi leadership will fully submit their plates to the president for redress. He therefore called on the team to remains patient while inform the Unity Party National leadership about the matter.
