WHAT DO YOU THINK?

A transgender “activist” group based in Norway is catching heat after trying to cancel the late-great Aretha Franklin for a song released over 50 years ago.

The folks behind the LGBTQ rights group called the Trans Cultural Mindfulness Alliance took to Twitter to call for the removal of Franklin’s 1968 hit song “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” from both Apple Music and Spotify because they believe the track is harmful to transwomen, New York Post reports.

In a Twitter post, the group wrote: “Aretha Franklin’s 1968 song ‘Natural Woman’ perpetuates multiple harmful anti-trans stereotypes,” the organization tweeted. “There is no such thing as a ‘natural’ woman.”

Kenny J has died.

The 69-year-old calypsonian passed away on Sunday morning from COVID-19.

His daughter Jesselle Joseph confirmed his passing to Loop News.

She said her father, who was fully vaccinated, tested positive for COVID-19 and was hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit of the Augustus Long Hospital.

She praised the doctors for taking good care of him and keeping the family informed of his status. She said she last spoke to her father two days ago and he was trying to be strong and in good spirits.

A retired policeman, Kenny J, real name Kenwrick Joseph, was among those calypsonians whose name became synonymous with Christmas.

The honey-voiced singer was known for cheeky double entendre Parang Soca songs such as “Alexander”, “Paintbrush” and “Hush Yuh Mouth”.
