PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS GET THE BOARDROOM EXPERIENCE WITH RFM CEO JOEY CONCEPCION
RFM Corporation Chairman, President and CEO Joey Concepcion welcomed into the boardroom of the food and beverage giant students from the Raja Soliman Science High School and Rizal High School last May 10 as part of a unique, immersive learning experience on entrepreneurship and business leadership.
The Go Negosyo founder spent a few hours with the senior high school students for the non-profit’s new entrepreneurship initiative “The Boardroom Experience”, a part of its Youthpreneur program. Youthpreneur is held in partnership with the Department of Education to promote an entrepreneurial mindset, build skills through mentorship, and increase financial literacy among the Filipino youth. Since late last year, it has been held in Quezon City, Manila, Pasig, Bataan, Baguio City, and Mindoro.
“This is an immersive learning experience for the students,” said Concepcion. “How many kids their age get to see the inside of an actual boardroom and interact with the CEO? This will help them prepare for when they have to present their business ideas to seasoned businessmen and give them the confidence to hold their own when the time comes,” he said.
In "The Boardroom Experience" senior high school students studying in public schools under the ABM, STEM, TVL, and HUMMS strands engage in one-hour sessions inside a real-life boardroom and participate in discussions on entrepreneurship, leadership and innovation. Through the activity, they will have an enhanced understanding of entrepreneurship and leadership, and enrich their learning experience through direct interaction with business leaders and actual exposure to real-world business practices.
The students were accompanied by teachers Rizza Tamayo from Rizal High School and Rociel Dimaculangan from Raja Soliman Science High School. Content creators and influencers Bella Concepcion and Stefanie Lois Garcia were also on hand to share with the students their experience in being digital entrepreneurs.
“The Boardroom Experience” welcomes students who have actively participated in the Youthpreneur programs. This exclusive activity aims to give students with an immersive and enriching learning experience that can potentially help them with their career mapping. Concepcion encouraged fellow businessmen to become part of “The Boardroom Experience” and help grow the next generation of entrepreneurs.

GOOD NEWS FOR PH AGARWOOD. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed last April 24, 2024 between Philippines-based Iba Botanicals and Malaysian startup Synbion, which will give Philippine growers access to OUDino, a Malaysia-developed biotechnology that accelerates the production of high-quality agarwood, the source of oud, one of the most expensive oils in the world and used primarily in perfumes.
The signing was during the trade visit of Philippine agriculture companies to Malaysia, which was held as part of the ASEAN Food Security Alliance initiative spearheaded by ASEAN Business Advisory Council Philippines chair and Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion.
Synbion is a spin-off company of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) and a subsidiary of UMP Technology Sdn Bhd, and specializes in agarwood inoculant solutions. Iba Botanicals, meanwhile, produces high-value botanicals from the Philippines, including agarwood, for supply to global markets. Iba Botanicals CEO Ben Mead said he plans to offer Synbion’s OUDino to other agarwood planters in the Philippines and help them produce exceptionally high-quality agarwood.
“This agreement represents the huge potential of regional partnerships among our neighbors in ASEAN,” said Concepcion. “We hope to replicate these exchanges as we embark on trade visits to the other members of our ASEAN Food Security Alliance.”
The trade visit, which was held from April 23 to 25 in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, is a direct outcome of ASEAN BAC Philippines’s efforts to build partnerships between the agriculture companies of the ASEAN member states, which were solidified through MOUs that were signed last year.

GO NEGOSYO TO AWARD INSPIRING TOURISM ENTREPS, INFLUENCERS THIS MAY
[MANILA, April 12, 2024] – Inspiring travel content creators and tourism entrepreneurs are set to be given recognition by non-profit organization Go Negosyo as it continues its search for nominees for this year’s Inspiring Tourism Entrepreneurs Awards. The awarding will be held during the Tourism Summit to be held this May 13, 2024 at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque City.
The Tourism Summit is held in cooperation with the Department of Tourism. Go Negosyo advocates for the development of the country’s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through various programs and projects with the government and the private sector.
Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion said that tourism can be a major contributor to the country’s rise to middle-income status. “The Philippines already has so much to offer in terms of tourist attractions, friendly people, delicious cuisine, and a rich culture,” he said. “Imagine what more we can do when we scale up the MSMEs in the travel sector and leverage the strength of social media to promote the country?”
The categories for the Inspiring Tourism Entrepreneurs Awards are Accommodations and Tours, Food and Retail, Sustainable Ecotourism, and Unique Attractions. A special award will be given to inspiring travel content creators who have made significant contributions to Philippine tourism through their social media content. Details and application forms are available on Go Negosyo’s social media pages on Facebook and Instagram.
To qualify for the Inspiring Tourism Entrepreneur award, the nominee’s enterprise must have been in operation for at least two years and have an inspiring entrepreneurial and success story that uplifts the community. The Special Award for travel content creators, meanwhile, is open to travel content creators and bloggers of all nationalities who currently reside in the Philippines, have been creating travel content for at least one year, and have promoted the country’s tourism attractions in their content. In both categories, the awardees must be personally able to receive the award during the ceremonies to be held at the Tourism Summit this May.
