This beautiful reflection inspired a journey to document my mother’s life—a life woven with love, resilience, and the delicate art of palm leaf baskets. She often joked that I took pictures of everyone but her. Her smile, as she lovingly crafted each basket, is forever etched in my heart.

From weaving baskets to preparing meals during times of war, my mother’s story is one of enduring strength and grace. Whether cutting onions for Ramadan or cooking over the fire, her smile never wavered. She is the river and the lake—a force of nature and a quiet depth that will forever leave an imprint on our lives.

Theme:Throwing Fire "جارَۃء"

The war in Sudan continues. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and their foreign backers capture Khartoum. However, the coalition composed of military officers, regulars, and the Sudanese Army manage to escape. They reorganize and launch a counteroffensive, using the Nuba mountains as their base. It's a gruelling and brutal war, with various urban centers being bombarded and sieged. The fighters use all available means, including traditional tactics and modern warfare, leading to widespread devastation. The people of Sudan are caught in the crossfire, forced to flee their homes and livelihoods.
