what considerations go into your release ?
Physical albums outsold digital albums for 2017 in the USA.
sold 66.2M units, down from 85M in 2016 while sold 87.6M units despite being 10M down from 2016. sales grew 1M on 2016, with 14.3M LPs sold in 2017.

Should you be considering a physical album release as well? Are you releasing an album to promote 3 singles or a project you wish to be appreciated as a whole? Who is your target audience? How do they buy music? Do they buy or do they just listen? What are the trends in your market? What is the success of trends in your market? "Music is heart, music business is livlihood."

Q: I am a Jamaican who has released several albums. I am not registered to any collecting society but songs from the albums are occasionally played on radio and I have never received any royalties for such use.
A. To be in a position to receive royalties from JAMMS, a record producer first has to apply for membership. then provide details about their released works for future monitoring. Where plays are traced, are paid.

Playing music to the public without a JAMMS License is a violation of the sound recording rights granted to our record producer members under the Copyright Law of Jamaica.
A JAMMS sound recording copyright license or is required for the legal playing of sound recordings at places of business and events and for the communication of recorded music via traditional and new media broadcasting (analog radio, internet radio, streaming).

16-08-18 The entertainment industry lost two greats in their own right- Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin and legendary performer Clarence Miller better known as Count Prince Miller.
Aretha, singer/songwriter extraordinaire, has left behind a repertoire of hits including Respect (R.E.S.P.E.C.T), Chain of Fools, Natural Woman and the groovy Rock Steady.
Did you know it was Aretha's voice on the theme song for S2-5 of the well loved American sitcom A Different World?

Count Prince, actor and musician, was catapulted to stardom with his hit Mule Train (1971). As actor, he is credited for his role as a nightclub dancer in the James Bond film, Dr. No and enjoyed regular screen time on the British sitcom Desmond's.
Their legacy remains.
