“As I talk to young men…I have to point out to you that gangs are a plague on society. This notion that somehow gangs are as a result of poverty or poor circumstances, that’s not the case. An M16 rifle is not cheap.”

Watts responds to Thomas-Dodd criticism
Jamaica’s team manager at the Olympics, Ludlow Watts, says Danniel Thomas-Dodd’s coach was given a coaching pass that would have allowed him to be in the stadium on the day of the shot put.
Thomas-Dodd had slammed the local organisers for not supporting field athletes and not accrediting her coach for the Olympics. She blamed not being able to prepare with her coach for missing the final.
But Mr Watt says Thomas-Dodd’s coach, who is also her husband, was in Paris at the time of the Olympic Games.
The members of Nationwide's Paris Olympic panel have reacted to comments made by Jamaica's Olympian in the women's shot put Danniel Thomas-Dodd.
Dodd, after narrowly missing qualification for the final of the event, accused local administrators of a lack of support, including not accrediting her coach to accompany her in Paris.
But several members of the panel believe some of Dodd's comments are without merit.
