A Boutique video production company Ms. Cameka Kimone McCrae has an uncommon knack for bringing ideas to artistic life.

It is this knack that has shaped her into being one the most creative and prominent media Producer in Jamaica. She plies her trade as a distinguished, voice and content mastermind, a prolific TV Broadcast Producer, an Entrepreneurial Executive, Community Leader and family woman. As a graduate in the class of 2004, Cameka holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Caribbean University where s

he studied Information Technology as a major and Communication as a minor. She has furthered honed her craft with intensive on-the-job training in a highly selective and competitive media group in the field of broadcast. Cameka's work which spans more than a decade in history is deeply rooted in broadcast, content writing and production management. Her face and voice have been a staple on the Jamaican marketing and broadcast scene. She has vivaciously hosted the popular Digicel Rising Star competition and is behind the scene as one of the Producers for TVJ's Smile Jamaica. Ingenuity would not allow Cameka to limit herself and so in 2016 Cameka created Kim Cam Productions where she serves as the company's CEO. Since its inception, Kim Cam Productions has serviced an a-list clientele. It continues to see success as it expands its reach and clientele and delivering works of impeccable quality, creativity and distinguishable excellence. As an individual who strives to attain balance, Cameka continues to lend her influences in a broad range of social and communal efforts. Her passion for her community has led to her involvement in the fight against HIV/AIDS locally and abroad. Her influence as a committed citizen, has seen her giving of her time and resources to raise awareness on community matters and social needs. She aspires to continually change the life and scope of media and productions in Jamaica and to successfully influence the local and International scene. Her successes thus far are attributed to her grounding faith, her supportive family and friends. Cameka has many cheerleaders on her team but the most prominent of them all is her son Jakim (a celebrity of his own kind), who wills her to strive and succeed every day. Video Production can involve an awful lot of decision makers - it’s important you set key guardrails that will make sure your project hits deadlines and gets in front of the right people in the right time and moves through the production line fast.
One Key Guardrail is Pre-set Stages - this means don’t begin until all requirements, content, and approvals have been met.

When Covid 19 struck - we had to do one year and few months of Best of Weekend Smile series.
Frustration kicked in a few times…we begged to go back to some sort of normalcy but we were asking for too much…we had to make it work…especially for she had to dig real deep.
Trust and believe that being creative during these times took mental strength. We showed up every week and delivered. We helped each other to get through it.

TRUST and HONESTY.
Story time : We recently completed a job for a Client and when I checked the account I realized that the Client paid us twice. Now, am I seeing doubles?
Clearly, it’s a mistake.
The Client was contacted - no response.
The Client was messaged - no response.
After several attempts we finally got a chance to let the Client know what happened. The Client was happy and thankful.
Lessons🙂
🎥Trust is fragile and should not be taken for granted and don’t try faking it either.
🎥Tell the Truth: Be as honest with your Clients as you want them to be with you.

As I stood on the other side of the Control Room watching the Olympic Production Team My heart was full.
They (We)have such a huge responsibility…especially in a moment as iconic as this one when thousands of Jamaicans are patiently waiting in front of their tv screens, laptops, phones for that Tokyo experience. They had to show up! Out of their beds, In Studio by 3am, making sure they have the most relevant and fact proven information to deliver great content to Viewers.
If it wasn’t for them - we probably wouldn’t have been able to witness that clean sweep 🥇🥈🥉.
What (we)do impacts the viewers experience.
This was a proud moment for us Jamaicans and I’m happy because of them we were able to live the Tokyo dream with our athletes.

What you see on screen is NOT usually what’s happening behind the scenes ( read it again)
On Screen things may look great but behind the scenes we could be extinguishing a fire.
Take last Saturday for instance: There was a show in studio that finished recording at 8:30am and weekend smile was scheduled to start at 8:35am 😳
Sounds crazy right?
5 mins to switch over.
Well, Producer aka lives for these moments💃🏻
Fast forward to the last segment of the show - we were unable to do a mic check 😱 with and in the control room the audio technician was not pleased
we only had 3mins before going live…we could only mic him and test the mic but not a rehearsal.
We were now live! Kevin started performing but he knew they were still tweaking in the control room.
He could have been annoyed but instead he helped the audio Engineer to finish tweaking and he did it so seamlessly🙌🏼
What could have been a disaster on screen was handled professionally both on the Engineer’s and the Artiste’s side.
The truth is, not everyone could have handled a situation like that but it’s always good to keep a level head when it comes to any production no matter what role you play.
Ohhh…and this may have happened this once but Always do a Proper Mic Check and Rehearsal before going Live.
Wow! That was a lot. Big up the Dj and all the guests that appeared on set and via zoom - didn’t get a photo but all added value to the show.
