Happy Independence Day Jamaica! ๐ฏ๐ฒ
๐ We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Winnie Mandela's family for allowing us to name the inaugural Humanitarian Award in her honor.
It is fitting that the award's first recipient is the remarkable Rita Marley, whose dedication to humanitarian causes embodies the spirit of this prestigious recognition.
๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฆ Our countries' shared histories and commitment to justice and humanity continue to thrive across various spheres, maintaining enduring bonds between Jamaican culture and South Africa.

International Reggae Day - JulyOne
Its JulyOne โค๏ธ๐๐
As the clock strikes midnight, we embark on a 24-hour global celebration of the soul-stirring sounds of Jamaican music - and in particular Reggae music- that have transcended borders.
International Reggae Day (IRD) now in its 30th year is not just a day; it is a tribute to the music that has given a voice to the voiceless, soul-deep riddims and a core message of love.
From the vibrant streets of Kingston, the birthplace of Reggae music, to every corner of the globe, Reggae has carried messages of love, resistance, and unity. It has been the soundtrack of freedon fighters the world over, igniting movements and inspiring generations.
The launch of IRD in 1994 coincided with the end of Apartheid in South Africa. It is fitting that this year's IRD theme is "30 years of Riddim and Resistance"
Today, we honor the pioneers who have paved the way with their timeless beats and heartfelt lyrics. We celebrate the cultural richness that Reggae music has brought to the world, reminding us that even in the darkest times, Reggae music has the power to uplift, unite and inspire and connect us all.
As we kick off this special 30th-anniversary celebration, join us in this joyous celebration. Share your love for Reggae music: wear your colours, plant a tree, take part in our live events scheduled at 10:00AM, 3:00 PM and 8:15PM Jamaica time. Participate in events near you or tune in to the media specials wherever you are. Tell us what Reggae means to you on the timeline.
Be a part of this incredible global movement.
Hereโs to 24 hours of pure Reggae.
Happy International Reggae Day!
