The latest issue of From the European South, edited by Lucio De Capitani and Shaul Bassi, is finally out!

As the climate crisis unfolds, what is the role of postcolonial approaches to environmental and climate issues? How can the environmental humanities and postcolonial studies converge to illuminate each other’s blind spots? The SPECIAL FOCUS of FES 13 traces some of the routes that connect postcolonialism and the environmental humanities from a variety of disciplinary perspectives.
The contributors’ critical reflections tackle the debate on the schisms between postcolonialism and ecocriticism; the silenced toxic legacies of colonialism in Africa; the capacity of ‘nature’ to speak; soil as a new standpoint to discuss postcolonial Pacific poetry; the role of AI as a tool to connect posthumanism, postcolonialism and the Anthropocene; and indigenous contributions to the development of an ecological and political consciousness in the Americas.

FES 11 is finally out!

The special focus of this issue, edited by Gianpaolo Chiriacò e Emilio Tambutini, embarks on the study of the legacy of ‘sonic memory’ in relation to Italian colonialism. The articles explore how music and sound have been used as a propoagandistic tool and as a way to represent colonised people. Furthermore, the contributions show how colonial discourse reverberates in today's discourses.
As a general Issue, FES 11 also features an article-interviews-reviews- section. You can read the words of the Ghanian-born writer Ayesha Harruna Attah discussing her latest publication “Zainab Takes New York” as well as those of Michelle M. Wright discussing the concept of ‘Epiphenomenal time’, among many other topics.

Ci siamo!

Buona lettura!

The first issue of FES, dating back to 2016, explores the potential of the postcolonial paradigm within the Italian context both as theory and praxis. In doing so, the issue lays its own foundation as an open space of interaction between different forms of knowledge and artistic and cultural production.
