Govt Middle School Bathipora craves for Govt attention,Students Suffer

Locals demand attention of higher ups

Aadil Abdullah

Bandipora, 01 Aug (KS) : The students of Government Middle School in the Bathipora Naidkhai area of Bandipora District are badly suffering due to lack of basic facilities in the school.

Locals said that Govt middle school Bathipora is craving for the attention as school is lying in shambles and dilapidated condition while authorities aren’t paying any heed.”

While speaking to the news agency Kashmir Scroll (KS) locals expressed concerns about the school ground being completely submerged in water, due to which students and teachers faces lot of difficulties and challenges.

“The students and teachers have been enduring this agony of water logging at the school premises since long time.

Students said that they feel like they have to cross a river while entering the school premises.

“We have to wear long plastic shoes to enter the premises." They said .

The uniforms of the students get untidy as they have to step on the stones which we have kept in that pool of water in the school premises, locals said .

"Many times, students have injured themselves while crossing it,” they said.

“There is no footpath and we have to travel through mud and water to study which often forces many students to stay home,” a group of students said'.

A local resident Ghulam Din Lone said that the government focuses more on showcasing achievements in the education sector but there is very little development visible at the ground level.

“Although the staff members are doing their best to provide quality education to the enrolled students but the dearth of basic facilities has got them concerned, having due to the current conditions.

He added that another structure was constructed in said school. But in 2014 heavy windstorm damaged the rooftop of the structure and "No effort was made to repair the rooftop so far," he said.

The school lacks all basic facilities like electricity supply, play field, fencing of school premises etc, In raining season school gets water logging due to which students and teachers face inconvenience in moving In and out, and also students are facing health risks due to a foul smell emanating from the polluted water.

“We are forced to cover our noses while going to the School as the stinky smell coming from this waste is unbearable. It is causing breathing disorders,” students said'.

It seems that District Administration Bandipora and Director Education has totally neglected the said School.

We have been constantly intimating to concerned authorities to look into theand matter and start work of soil filling and fencing of school premises but till date nothing has been done.

“We plead the government to resolve the issue so that this educational institute runs smoothly.”

When the news agency k
Kashmir Scroll- contacted Zonal Education Officer Hajin Abdul Rahim Lone for his comments over the issue he said that he has recently joined as ZEO Hajin and would collect all the details from office staff to redress the issues immediately, he said.

Meanwhile locals and students requested Deputy Commissioner Bandipora and Cheif Education Officer Bandipora to intervene in the matter and resolve the problem as soon as possible so that students won't suffer any more.(KS)
