*Gulmarg Avalanche: Foreigner killed, another rescued and one still missing*
Gulmarg, Feb 22, KNT: A foreigner was killed while another went missing and a third one rescued after an avalanche hit the Kongdoori slopes of ski-resort Gulmarg on Thursday, officials said.
They said three foreigners had gone to ski without prior information and knowledge of locals.
“No local was accompanying them when the avalanche hit the slopes,” said officials.
Shortly after the avalanche a rescue operation was launched by the administration. The body of a foreigner was retrieved beneath the snow while one was rescued. ‘Efforts are on to trace the missing skier,” officials said adding that the foreigner rescued and is being treated in a local hospital.
"Around 1400 (2 pm) hours today, an avalanche was recorded in Gulmarg, trapping three foreigners. Tragically, one among them is dead, one injured, and one still remains missing," District Disaster Management Authority said. [KNT]

The Indigo Flight No. 6E6125 which took off at 05:25 pm from New Delhi to Srinagar on 19.02.2024 had a narrow escape when it faced rough weather and was unable to move against the strong storm. The passengers were seen reciting all prayers and holy verses as they felt it was their last moment.
Baba Firdous who is chief of Kashmir Seva Sangh was also on board and had narrow escape. He said it was new life for him and all other passengers of the flight.

*Fight between two brothers leaves one critically injured in Pattan*
Pattan, Feb. 10 (KS); Yet again, disturbing and shocking news comes from the northern region of Kashmir, where a fight between two brothers leaves one critically injured, sources said.
Reliable sources told Srinagar-based news gathering agency Kashmir Scroll that an argument between two brothers in the Hanjivera area of Pattan left one critically injured.
Sources said immediately the injured one was taken to Pattan Hospital, where doctors referred him to Srinagar Medical Institution for advanced treatment.
A senior police also confirmed this unfortunate incident to news agency Kashmir Scroll and identified injured as Muzaffar Hussain Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar (30) resident of Hanjiweera Pattan. He said a case has been registered and further investigation has been initiated.
Pertinently, the police in north Kashmir's Sopore have arrested a man accused of killing his brother earlier this week. (KS)

Srinagar, Feb 08 (KNO): Thousands of devotees from all over Kashmir converged at the revered shrine Hazratbal in Srinagar to have the glimpse of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) on the occasion of Mehraj-e-Alam (SAW) on Thursday.
Mehraj-e- Alam (SAW) was celebrated with great religious fervour across J&K. From Wednesday evening, thousands of devotees from far off places of Kashmir reached the Hazratbal shrine to be part of the night-long gathering. Duroods, Khatmatul Moazamat and naats were recited throughout the night at the shrine after which the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was displayed to devotees soon after the Fajar (pre-dawn) prayers. As per reports, similar gatherings were held in the Jammu region as well.
Thousands of people were seen rushing towards the shrine for Zuhr (afternoon prayers) and to have a glimpse of the holy relic. Holy relic was displayed after every prayer of the day.
The 26th night of Islamic month Rajab is observed as Mehraj-e-Aalam (SAW) across the world. It was the night, when Prophet Muhammad (SAW) descended on the journey of skies in the middle of the night.
Emotional scenes were witnessed at the shrine when the holy relic was displayed for the devotees after Zuhr prayers. People, children and women were seen praying amid moist eyes. “This is the time when our prayers get answered,” Shameema, a woman devotee, who had come from northern district of Kupwara told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

*Snow avalanche hits Sonamarg, no loss of life*

A massive snow avalanche hit central Kashmir's Ganderbal district on Thursday afternoon, officials said.
An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that a snow avalanche hit Sonamarg. He said the snow on the mountains slided and stopped in Sindh.
The official said that no loss of life or property was reported.
Meanwhile, authorities issued weather advisory of which a copy lies with Kashmir Scroll reads, In view of Avalanche warning with low danger level above 2300 meters over Ganderbal on 7th Feb, 2024 to 8th Feb 2024, it is requested to the general public of district Ganderbal to remain cautious & not to venture out in slopes, hilly areas or avalanche prone areas till further instructions. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a residential house was involved in a late-night fire incident in Bagh-e-Mehtab area of Srinagar.

Srinagar, Feb 7, KNT: A non-local was killed while another sustained injuries after suspected militants fired upon them old Srinagar city this evening.
*Police said that militants fired upon two persons in which a man identified as Amritpal Singh of Amritsar died on the spot in Shaheed Gunj area of Srinagar while another person sustained injuries.*
*The injured who has been identified as Rohit Mashi, also a resident of Punjab has been shifted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for treatment*.
