A girl from Sikkim was brutally gang-raped at a guest house in Kishanganj, Bihar by two individuals.
The incident occurred after the victim missed her train to Sikkim on Wednesday night.
The victim, along with her friend, had planned to return to Sikkim but missed their train. They contacted a local friend who arranged accommodation for them at a guest house.
The accused have been identified as Arhan Akhtar, a resident of Bahadurganj, and Amjad Hussain, a resident of Araria district. Akhtar was reportedly known to the friend who had arranged the stay for the girls.
The accused, who were intoxicated, forcibly entered the victim's room and began making sexual advances.
When confronted by the girls' male friend, the accused tied her down and then took turns ra**ng the victim.
One of the girls managed to escape and reached the police station to report the incident. Upon receiving the information, a police team raided the location, rescued the victim, and apprehended both accused. The victim was subsequently admitted to the district hospital for treatment.
A forensic team from Bhagalpur has visited the scene and collected samples for further investigation.

Sikkim 31st May 24: The judgment was delivered by Judge Jyoti Khadka of the District and Sessions Court Special Division.

Additional Public Prosecutor Advocate Yadav Sharma, speaking to the media outside the court, stated that the accused was convicted on Thursday and the sentence was pronounced today. Bhutia was charged under Sections 302, 307, and 353 of the IPC 1860.

Advocate Sharma explained that he had requested the court for rigorous life imprisonment under Section 302, along with a fine of Rs 50,000. Additionally, he sought a 10-year imprisonment and a Rs 5,000 fine under Section 307, and a 1-year imprisonment and a Rs 1,000 fine under Section 353.

Sharma also mentioned that the convict has the right to appeal the conviction and sentence in the High Court. The family of deceased Dr. Sanjay Upreti expressed satisfaction with the judgment, according to Sharma.

Days after a video of a purported confession by a teenaged youth claiming to have cast vote eight times surfaced, the Election Commission of India (ECI) declared the voting conducted at the polling station in Etah district as invalid.
The re-polling has been ordered at the station on May 25.
In connection with the video, the Etah police have filed an FIR against the teenager and polling officers deployed at the polling station were suspended. It was later discovered that the youth was a minor.
