NSS Volunteers of GDC Surankote in collaboration with department of Political Science organised a rally to promote voter awareness with the theme of “Mera Pehla Vote Desh k Liye” under the able guidance of worthy Principal Prof. (Dr) Rani Mughal.
About 40 students participated in the rally holding placards & banners displaying the messages of Mera Pehla Vote Desh K Liye. The rally which started from GDC Surankote ended at main market. The rally was led by Prof Fatima, NSS Programme Officer along with Dr Shezad and Dr. Amir Malik, faculty from Political Science & Education Department. The primary objective of this event was to enlighten newly eligible voters about their rights & significance of active participation in the electoral process.

*Tragedy Strikes as Mohd Qasim Dies from Electric Shock in Surankote*

In a heart-wrenching incident, Mohd Qasim s/o Khursheed Ahmed, a resident of Middle Marhote in ward no 3, lost his life due to an electric shock from the main electricity line. The community is mourning the tragic loss of a young life, attributing it to the negligence and ignorance of the Power Development Department (PDD) in Surankote. Surankote's Deaf and Dumb Administration in Poonch appears to be unaware and indifferent to the incident, further fueling the anger and frustration among the locals.

The youth of Marhote have issued a clear message, stating that if justice is not served promptly to the grieving family, they plan to block the national highway in protest tomorrow. Demanding accountability, they urge the District Administration in Poonch to immediately appoint an inquiry committee to investigate the incident. Additionally, the community seeks compensation for the family of Mohd Qasim, holding the PDD department in Surankote responsible for the tragic loss.

Surankote :- AICC Secretary and DDC Member from Surankote A block Shri Shahnawaz Choudhary kicked off road work from High school Sanai to Potha Upper Mirzian Lower via Ziarat khindo here today in presence of Xen, AEE, JE of R&B division Surankote and prominent citizen of the area. The project is sanctioned under NABARD costing 10 Crore.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahnawaz Choudhary said that our rural area lacked basic infrastructure and this was ignored by yester year's political leadership. Road infrastructure influences life of common people in positive way and this is my top priority as DDC Member.
I tried every possible effort in this regard.
He further said that he is thankful to people of Surankote A constituency for giving him this opportunity to serve people and do something to change lives of common people.
He assured them of every posible assistance to public gathering.

Theft case in Hss Mohri Gursai.

In the midnight of 17th and 18th February 2024 some criminals entered in the school premises and first they broke all the cctv cameras very cleverly. They also broke the locks of principal office, administrative blocks and canteen. One laptop, one computer, some sports items and almost all the material from canteen have been stolen. An FIR has been sent to police station Gursai in this regarding with the request to take disciplinary action against the culprits.

Director Poonch Campus, Prof Rakesh Vaid, Plays Key Role in Silk Industry Development Program

Jammu, January 30 : Director Poonch Campus, Prof Rakesh Vaid, took a significant role in the one-day Technical Upgradation Program titled "Schemes for the Development of Silk Industry." The event, organized by Silk Technical Service Center, CSTRI, Central Silk Board, Miran Sahib Jammu, in collaboration with J&K Sericulture Development Department, aimed at benefitting cocoon producers, reelers, and weavers.

The Technical Upgradation Program witnessed a distinguished lineup of guests, including Chief Guest Dr. Vikas Gupta, Director of Handicraft and Handloom, Jammu Division, Special Guest Dr. Rakesh Vaid, Director University of Jammu, and Guest of Honour Shri Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Additional Director, Sericulture Development Department (SDD).

Director Poonch Campus, Dr. Rakesh Vaid, emphasized the importance of testing services, training programs, and Central Government schemes for students and industry beneficiaries. He praised the initiatives of Silk Technical Service Center, Central Silk Board Jammu, and highlighted their efforts in uplifting silk farmers, entrepreneurs, and artisans.

Mr. N. S. Gahlot, Scientist-D/Zonal Officer STSC, CSTRI Central Silk Board Jammu, presented valuable insights during the program. He outlined the progress made in silk cocoon quality and yarns under the Silk Samagra Scheme-II, focusing on developing diversified products through collaboration with handloom weavers and artisans.

The event showcased various aspects of silk production, from handloom weaving to the potential for profit through silk yarn blends like silk-wool and silk-cotton. Participants were encouraged to explore the available subsidies for machinery, emphasizing the opportunity to create value-added diversified products aligned with market demand.

In his address, Dr. Vikas Gupta highlighted the extensive training provided in handicrafts and handloom over the past two years. He praised the collaboration between the scientists of the silk technical service center and their technical teams in the development of handloom.

Special Guest Shri Ashwani Kumar Sharma urged people to leverage the schemes under HADP and Silk Samagra-II. He emphasized the need for skill development programs at the district level with the assistance of the Central Silk Board.

The technical upgradation program saw the participation of over 100 entrepreneurs, reelers, weavers, artisans, and officials from both state and central offices. The role of Director Poonch Campus, Prof Rakesh Vaid, in promoting the development of silk industry was pivotal, contributing to the success of the event.

In conclusion, Shri Bharat Bhushan, Senior Technical Assistant, extended gratitude to all participants and invited them for a working lunch, followed by a technical session and question-answer session in the conference hall of SDD, Govt. of J&K, Jammu.

Deputy Commissioner inspected pace of Road Construction works in Block Bufliaz.*

Poonch Jan. 28 2024: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary(IAS) inspected various ongoing road projects in Block Bufliaz. He was accompanied by SDM Surankote Rizwan Asgar(JKAS) and XEN PWD Division Surankote Shokat Choudhary and Concerned Junior Engineer Tahir Abdullah.

The purpose of the inspection was to assess the progress of the project, ensure adherence to quality standards, and address any challenges that may hinder the timely completion of this vital infrastructure development.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected four roads in Buffliaz Sub-Division viz; Donar to Sawnee under NABARD RIDF XXVIII, Drogian to Mal Kholianwali gali, Km 9th to Mohalla Dandi Mal under NABARD REDIFF XXVIII
and Mastandhara to Mohalla Dogian Hariwala

During the visit, the DC took the initiative to address the concerns of the locals and resolved the disputes of roads on the spot. The locals hailed the DC's action in resolving the dispute and addressing the concerns of the people.

He also assured the locals that the administration is committed to addressing their concerns ans urged the officers to continue working with the same dedication and commitment.

He further directed the concerned executing agency to accelerate the pace of work and complete the projects in the set timeline.

Earlier, the DC inspected various examination centers to ensure that proper facilities were in place for the fair and smooth conduct of the JKSSB exam for Finance Accounts Assistant in surankote sub-division.He visited various centres physically during examination.
