শুধু অভিনয় মেধা নয়, তাঁর মুখ, শারীরিক অঙ্গ-ভঙ্গি, চলন-বলন, সব কিছুতেই হাসি পেয়ে যায় খুব স্বাভাবিক ভাবেই। কিন্তু খুব কম লোকে জানেন 'কিং অফ কমেডি' ভানু ছিলেন পদার্থবিদ্যার এক কৃতী ছাত্র, ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে পড়তেন, ঢাকা রেডিওতে নিয়মিত কবিতাও পড়তেন। ছিলেন বিজ্ঞানী সত্যেন্দ্রনাথ বসুর প্রিয় ছাত্র। পরে তিনি বাংলা সিনেমা, থিয়েটার কাঁপিয়ে হয়ে উঠলেন কিংবদন্তি অভিনেতা। বাংলা চলচিত্রে যখন নায়ক-নায়িকাই সব, ঠিক সেই সময়ে উল্লসিত ফোয়ারার মতন ভানু নিয়ে এলেন নির্ভেজাল কমেডি যা মানুষ প্রাণভরে নিলেন, সেই জন্যই আজও ভানুর জনপ্রিয়তার জায়গা বাকিদের অধরা হয়ে আছে।
