The Citizen Action Party - Sikkim (CAP-S) strongly condemns the arrest of Miss Uma Chamling Rai, a YouTuber and Nepalese citizen, by the Sikkim Police on charges of instigating communal violence during the Sakewa festival at Legship, Sikkim. We view this as an arbitrary and unjustifiable action by the State Government, violating Miss Chamling Rai's fundamental rights and undermining the principles of the India-Nepal Treaty of Peace and Friendship of 1950.

Miss Chamling Rai's arrest represents a desperate move by the State Government to suppress dissent and criticism, fostering fear and division among the people of Sikkim. This incident brings embarrassment to the peace-loving people of Sikkim, known for their harmonious coexistence with their Nepalese counterparts. Furthermore, the State Government has neglected the special relations between India and Nepal, marked by an open border and deep cultural and kinship ties. According to the 1950 Treaty, Nepalese citizens enjoy facilities and opportunities on par with Indian citizens.

CAP-S demands the immediate and unconditional release of Miss Chamling Rai, urging the withdrawal of all false charges against her. We call for a fair and impartial inquiry into the matter and seek accountability from the State Government and Sikkim Police for their unlawful actions. Given our lack of confidence in the State Government's ability to deliver justice, we appeal to central Indian agencies and the Nepal embassy to intervene, protecting the rights and dignity of Miss Chamling Rai and the Nepalese community in Sikkim.

Citizen Action Party-Sikkim stands in solidarity with Miss Chamling Rai and the Nepalese community in Sikkim, committed to fighting for their rights and welfare. We encourage the people of Sikkim to remain calm, united, and resist any attempts by the State Government to divide them along communal lines.

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay paid his last respects to late Mrs Ashrani Chamling, mother of former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling at their residence in Yangang yesterday evening.

Praying for the departed soul, the Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt condolence to the family and friends during this time of bereavement.

It's successful Trail Run exploring the Holy and Historical site Ranidhunga organized by AMAS during the KANCHENDJANGA WINTER TOURISM FESTIVAL 2023. Which was flagged off by Chief Guest Minister Shri Sanjit Kharel and in the presence of Area MLA cm Minister Shri Bhim Hang Limboo and MP Shri Indra Hang Limboo at Pelling ground. Congratulations to all the runners for completing the challenging 16 km trail run in 2 hours.Specially appreciation to Amar S***a Marathonman for organising such a meaningful trail run.

The support and recognition from Chief Guest Minister Shri Sanjit Kharel add to the significance of the event. Wishing continued in promoting offbit tourism through such initiatives.

CONGRATULATIONS | From Engineer to Mister India Sikkim's Son Akash is making his State and Nation Proud |

Akash Pradhan, S/o Guman Singh Pradhan and Jumki Lhamu Pradhan, R/o Middle Sukrabarey, Sadam, South Sikkim, and serves as a Computer Engineer in the Government sector in Gangtok.

Recently, he won the title of Mister India 2023, along with the subtitle "Mister Ubercool." His remarkable achievements also encompass titles such as Bhaju Sikkim 2022, Mister Siliguri 2022, and Mega Mister Sikkim 2023.

The grooming sessions for this remarkable journey occurred in Pune from 21st to 24th Dec, 2023. The grand finale unfolded in Sangli, Maharashtra, as part of a revered festival celebrating from 20th year, drawing an audience of over 10,000 spectators. Thirty contestants from different states showcased diverse cultures.

In the traditional round, Akash adorned himself in Newari Dawra Surwal, symbolizing his cultural heritage. For the personal interview, he chose Bhutia attire, expressing pride in his state.

Mr. Pradhan is representing India in the "Mister Tourism Globe" 2024 competition in the Philippines.

As he expressed, this opportunity fulfills a long-time aspiration to showcase his traditional and cultural roots on a global platform.

He extends his gratitude to CEO Amar Shamu and the organizer Global Model India. He is also thankful for the unwavering support from his family and supporters throughout this transformative journey.

Minister Building and Housing,Social Welfare, Women and Child Development Departments Government of Sikkim Mr Sanjeet Kharel reached at the commencing day of the Kanchendzanga Winter Tourism Festival at Pelling Ground organised by the Pelling Tourism Development Association(PTDA).
Upon arrival, Minister was accorded a warm welcome by organising committee amidst the Singi Dance and Dhimi Lhakey. To mark the formal commencement of the festival the Chief Guest performed a ceremonial cutting of ribbion at the gate. He even Flagged off the Marathon, Mountain Biking and Motorcycle Ride events of the festival and visited various installed stalls at the festival.

सुवास दीपकलाई बद्रीनारायण प्रधान स्मृति पुरस्कार

सिक्किम निवासी वरिष्ठ साहित्यकार श्री सुवास दीपकलाई यस वर्षको 'बद्रीनारायण प्रधान स्मृति पुरस्कार' अर्पण गरिने निर्णय लिइएको छ। पुरस्कार चयन समितिका संयोजक डा. मोहन पी. दाहालको अध्यक्षतामा मतिगड़ास्थित उहाँको निवासमा आज बसेको चयन समितिको बैठकले विशिष्ट साहित्यसाधक सुवास दीपकलाई 13औँ बद्रीनारायण प्रधान स्मृति पुरस्कारद्वारा अलङ्कृत गर्ने निर्णय लिएको हो। सन् 2012 देखि प्रत्येक वर्ष बद्रीनारायण प्रधान स्मृति प्रतिष्ठानद्वारा सर्वभारतीय स्तरमा यो पुरस्कार नेपाली साहित्यका विशिष्ट साहित्यकारलाई अर्पण गरिँदै आएको छ। आगामी 14 जनवरी, 2024 का दिन बाग्राकोट, डुवर्समा आयोजन हुने 96औँ बद्रीनारायण प्रधान स्मृति जयन्तीको अवसरमा एक भव्य समारोहमा उहाँलाई पुरस्कारद्वारा अलङ्कृत गरिनेछ। नेपाली र हिन्दी लगाएर 12 वटा मौलिक कृतिका रचनाकार सुवास दीपकले नेपालीबाट हिन्दी, हिन्दीबाट नेपाली, डोगरीबाट नेपाली, अङ्ग्रेजीबाट नेपाली र अङ्ग्रेजीबाट हिन्दी गरी झण्डै दुई दर्जन पुस्तकको अनुवाद गर्नुभएको छ। उहाँलाई सन् 2003 मा डोगरी भाषाबाट नेपालीमा उपन्यास अनुवादका लागि साहित्य अकादमी अनुवाद पुरस्कार प्राप्त भएको थियो। श्री दीपकले एक दर्जनजति पत्र-पत्रिका तथा पुस्तकहरूको सम्पादन गर्नुभएको छ। यसै वर्ष डा. देवचन्द्र सुब्बाले उहाँमाथि गहन अध्ययनसहितको एउटा जीवनी प्रकाशमा ल्याउनुभएको छ।
1 अप्रेल, 1948 मा पञ्जाबको काङ्गडामा जन्मिनुभएका सुवास दीपकको वास्तविक नाम सुभाषचन्द्र डोगरा हो। उहाँ ठिटौले उमेरमै आफ्ना दाजुसँग सिक्किम आउनुभएको थियो। नेपाली साहित्यमा उहाँ सुवास दीपकका नामले सुपरिचित हुनुहुन्छ। पत्र-पत्रिकाको खड़ेरी परेको अवस्थामा उहाँले 1981 देखि तीन दशकभन्दा लामो समयसम्म 'विचार' साप्ताहिक पत्रिका सम्पादन/प्रकाशन गर्नुभयो। सुवास दीपक एक ख्यातिप्राप्त अनुवादक हुनुहुन्छ। उहाँले हालै कालजयी नेपाली कथाहरूको चयन गरी हिन्दीमा अनुवाद गर्नुभएको छ, जसको नाम 'भारतीय नेपाली कहानीः एक सदी का सफर' (1920-2020/प्रथम खण्ड) रहेको छ। उहाँको ख्याति पत्रकारितामा पनि उस्तै रहेको छ। केही दिनअघि उहाँलाई सिक्किमबाट 'काशीराज प्रधान लाइफटाइम जर्नलिज्म अवार्ड' प्राप्त भएको छ। पाँच दशकभन्दा लामो समयदेखिको उहाँको लेखन तथा अनुवादकार्य विशिष्ट महत्त्वको छ।
13औँ बद्रीनारायण प्रधान स्मृति पुरस्कारका लागि श्री सुवास दीपकलाई चयनित गर्न पाउँदा बद्रीनारायण प्रधान स्मृति प्रतिष्ठान हर्षबोध गर्दछ। प्रतिष्ठान परिवारको तर्फबाट उहाँलाई हार्दिक बधाई अर्पण गर्दछौँ।

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay paid his last respects to late Mrs Ashrani Chamling, mother of former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling at their residence in Yangang yesterday evening. Praying for the departed soul, the Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt condolence to the family and friends during this time of bereavement. He was accompanied by Speaker Mr Arun Upreti, Deputy Speaker Mr Sangay Lepcha, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs and officials of CMO.
