The 39th Assam Rifles (AR) team, along with Jiribam Police Station (PS), conducted a routine frisking and checking operation at Kunjabond along JT Road. During the operation, a white Bolero Pick-up truck bearing registration number AS 11DC-3506, heading towards Cachar from Tipaimukh, Pherzwal District, Manipur, was intercepted for inspection.

Upon thorough examination, the team discovered 30 soap caps, weighing approximately 363.45 grams (excluding the weight of the soap caps), suspected to contain contraband brown sugar, cleverly concealed inside pumpkins within the vehicle.

The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Abdul Mannan Mazumder (31), son of late Abdul Jalil Mazumder, residing at Ganganagar Part-X, P.O-Kalakhal PS-Sonai, District-Cachar, Assam, and Khalil Ulla Barbhuiya (26), son of Monir Uddin Barbhuiya, residing at Ganganagar Part. XIII P.O-Kalakhal PS-Sonai, District-Cachar, Assam.
Subsequently, both individuals were apprehended and handed over to Jiribam PS for further investigation and legal proceedings.
