The counting of votes for the legislative assembly polls in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir was conducted today. In Haryana, BJP bagged a total of 48 seats while INC claimed 37 seats. In Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu & Kashmir National Conference bagged the majority with 42 seats while BJP claimed 29 seats. Both these state legislative assemblies have a total of 90 seats each.
Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma visited the areas of his state hit by landslides. He interacted with the affected citizens and took stock of the situation. He also handed over an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the family members of all the victims who passed away. Parts of the West Garo Hills District of the state was hit by landslides after torrential rains. A large number of houses were damaged during the natural disaster.
