Citizen Action Party (CAP)
Citizen Action Party- Sikkkm on 9th February 2023 called upon various leaders and concerned authorities appraising number of issues pertaining to Sikkim. The most urgent was about the recent infamous judgement of the Supreme Court wherein the definition of the term "Sikkimese" defined under Section 10 (26 AAA) has been struck down. Other equally important issues highlighted by Citizen Action Party - Sikkim today was with regard to long pending Limboo Tamang seat in the Sikkim State Legislative Assembly, Restoration of Nepali Seat in the State Legislative Assembly and Tribalship recognition to 12 left out communities of Sikkim to be pursued and solved sooner.
The recipients of memorandum included various National Party leaders such as Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), Indian National Congres, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Comminist Party of India (M), Comminist Party of India, Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD), Janta Dal (U). Citizen Action Party- Sikkim was assured by the leaders that their parties shall pursue these matters from their party level. Memorandum was also submitted in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Citizen Action Party will reach Prime Minister's Office on 10th February 2023 to apprise about the matters aforementioned.
Citizen Action Party has been on one day dharna at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. We are joined by many concerned Sikkimese Citizens who are presently working in and around Delhi. A good number of students from Sikkim studying in Delhi and surroundings also joined our dharna. The dharna was successfully concluded and was able to highlight issues pertaining to Sikkim on a national level. It is for the first time that leaders addressed in Lepcha, Limboo, Bhutia, Hindi and Nepali languages at the National Capital. The coverage of the dharna was broadcasted on national media as well as local media from Sikkim.
