(FROM THE PAGE OF HCM SHRI P.S. GOLAY)

It is shocking and disheartening to know about the recent statement made by one of the representatives of All India Women Conference (AIWC) for rejecting performances of artistes in Nepali language, terming it “non-Indian”.

Nepali language is spoken by 1.5 crores Indians and is recognized under the 8th schedule of the Indian Constitution and such statements have deeply hurt the sentiment of the entire Nepali speaking community.

I have corresponded to the organization in this matter and we, the people of Sikkim condemn such hurtful statement and urge AIWC to immediately rectify the issue. We hope and anticipate a quick response in this regard.

LUCKNOW: A 17-year-old boy allegedly shot his mother in a fit of rage after she refused to give him Rs 10,000 that he demanded from her, police said.
The three-day old body of Sadhna, 40, was recovered from her house in Eldeco Colony under the SGPGI police station area on Tuesday night.
Her 17-year old son and her nine-year-old daughter were at the house at the time of the incident. Her husband is posted in West Bengal.
ACP, Cantonment, Archana Singh said that a friend of the victim’s husband informed the police that foul smell was emanating from Naveen’s house. “We reached the spot and found the decomposed body,” Singh said.
“A forensic team was called on the spot which told us that the woman was shot in the head from close range and then her body was kept in an air-conditioned room to conceal the crime,” she said.
Singh said that the victim’s husband told the police over the phone that on June 4, Sadhna had a spat with her son over money. “When the boy demanded money, Sadhna asked for the purpose. Irked over the denial, the boy took out his father’s pistol and shot her in the head,” said Singh, while narrating the sequence of events. When it became unbearable for the boy to stay in the home, he called his father and informed about the incident.

HAPPY BUDDHA PURNIMA

What is Buddha Purnima? Why do we celebrate Buddha Purnima? Learn here
What is Buddha Purnima and why do people from all around the globe celebrate this festival? Here is why we celebrate Buddha Purnima and what is its significance.
Buddha Purnima is considered to be the biggest religious festival celebrated majorly by the Buddhist community.
Why do we celebrate Buddha Purnima?
Buddha Purnima marks the birth, enlightenment, and death of Gautama Buddha. On this specific day in 563 BC, Buddha was born in the form of Siddhartha Gautama in Kopilabostu. It is believed that Gautam Buddha attained supreme enlightenment at the age of 35 and then went into "nirvana" at the age of 80 in 483 BC. Every year on this day, devotees who have embraced Buddhism in India pay a visit to the common Viharas in order to celebrate the festival. The festival is about praying with the purest of feelings, and adapting to the things Buddhism stands for - peace, non-violence and harmony. A number of people also share quotes and messages of Buddha Purnima. We have a list of quotes and greeting to send on Buddha Purnima. Here are some Buddha Purnima quotes and greetings.
