*COCOMI team gives final warning to Chief Minister - Jeetendra Ningombam*
🕊
🗞TLK | 19 Jan, 2024 : Eight members of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) met with the Chief Minister of Manipur at his office bungalow. They expressed their dissatisfaction with the lack of action from both the state and central government regarding the ongoing crisis in the state.
After the meeting, COCOMI Coordinator Jeetendra Ningombam spoke to the media and conveyed their unhappiness with the way the Indian government and state government are handling the crisis. The team questioned the Chief Minister about why he and his government remain silent despite knowing that what is happening in the state is a proxy war against the people of Manipur.
Jeetendra emphasized that it is the responsibility of the Chief Minister or any elected representative in the state Assembly to protect the people of Manipur.
“We are unhappy when our state forces are attacked and killed in Moreh. We are angry when civilians are killed by armed Kuki militants in Haotak and Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou,” Jeetendra stated, expressing the need for visible action from the government.
The COCOMI leader pointed out that all the killings of innocent people occur near the presence of Central forces such as the Sikh regiment, Assam Rifles, and other Indian Army units.
“As representatives of COCOMI, we have demanded that the government take a clear stance,” Jeetendra said, warning that this is the final warning and if the government fails to act, they will face the consequences.
COCOMI also demanded the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the revocation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) within the next one or two days.

Manipur government's security advisor Kuldiep Singh on Thursday said the current locations of the three state police commando units in violence-hit Moreh town were unsuitable, making them vulnerable targets.

Singh said in the wake of Wednesday's militant attack on the forces, it has been decided to relocate the three commando units to other areas of the border town.

Regarding the attack on police personnel in Moreh town on January 17, Singh said an intelligence report had earlier warned of assaults by insurgents, including 'reinforcements from Burma'.

However, there is no evidence that connects foreign parties to the incident, he added.

Addressing a press conference in Imphal, Singh said, "Yesterday morning, militants targeted the commando posts at three locations -- two hotels and SBI Moreh. After numerous coordination meetings, it was concluded that the units were positioned in the lower areas of the town, making them susceptible to attacks from hill areas. We have decided to relocate the units to higher areas of the town, where they can effectively counter the militants."

Singh said operations against the militants commenced on Thursday evening.

Additional reinforcements, including one company of BSF, two army columns, and four casper vehicles have arrived in Moreh. Furthermore, a helicopter from the Union home ministry has also reached the area, he added.

"We have taken measures to ensure that all forces can collaborate and take action against the militants," Singh added.

*AMUCO demands removal of Manipur security advisor Kuldiep Singh*

🗞TLK | 19 Jan, 2024 : The All Manipur United Club’s Organisation (AMUCO) has demanded the replacement of chairman of unified command of Manipur Kuldiep Singh by a competent state authority alleging that he is failing to maintain law and order in Manipur.

AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang told the media at its Kwakeithel head office on Thursday that the violence is still occurring and the number of dead continues to increase since Kuldiep was appointed after the May 3 incident.

Kuldiep has failed to maintain the law-and-order of Manipur, and he should be removed from his post or he should resign under moral grounds, he said.

“If the present unrest in Manipur is due to any conflict between Meitei and Kuki communities, then why are the Kuki militants attacking the state forces? The state forces have all different types of communities; why are they being attacked?” he questioned.

To reduce the violence in peripheral areas of Manipur, the Central government has put a buffer zone where no communities from both Kuki and Meitei are allowed to pass. When the Kuki militants with arms pass the said buffer zones, the Central forces ignore them but the Meiteis are stopped from even getting close to the said buffer zones, he added.

At this juncture, the state forces need not wait for orders to retaliate if they are attacked, he said. No state forces waited for retaliation during the previous government, Nando said.

Kuldiep Singh has failed to maintain the law-and-order of Manipur, and he should be removed from his post or he should resign under moral grounds, AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang said.
