Nagaland State Social Welfare Board has informed on Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), a centrally sponsored conditional maternity benefit scheme. Under the programme, monetary benefit of 5000 rupees is provided to pregnant women and lactating mothers for their first live birth. It also offers 6000 rupees for the second child provided the child is a girl child. The cash benefit is deposited directly into bank accounts of the beneficiaries and can be availed upto nine months after birth. As a special enrolment exercise, mothers of the second child born on or after 1st April 2022 have been made eligible to register for PMMVY till this month.

Seniormost legislator and present Advisor for Department of Social Security and Welfare passed away this morning at Dimapur after he complaint of health issue where he was rashed to CIHSR and later declared death due to cardiac arrest. He was 84.

Noke Wangnao popularly known as Papa Noke is a politician from Nagaland, India. He was elected to Nagaland Legislative Assembly 10 times from the 43 Tapi Assembly constituency under Mon District in 1974, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1989, 2003, 2013,2018, and the 2023 Nagaland Legislative Assembly election. He has earlier served as a minister holding several key portfolios in Nagaland Legislative Assembly and is currently serving as an advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland.
