A secret Chinese connection!

We first came to Timbaktu in 2011, to film a story on the incredible work they had done in reviving the land. Our film, titled ‘Timbaktu’, garnered multiple wins in the festival circuit, including a National Award. More importantly, it would go on to become an important conversation starter in sustainability conferences across Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia and inducted into the teaching curriculum of multiple Universities.

But what it did, more significantly, was show the power of film to our friends in Timbaktu. And every couple of years since then, the Timbaktu Collective has invited us to film micro-stories - raising the resources to have us produce incredible stories of the work they’ve done with first generation women entrepreneurs, with children, with organic food, with traditional handlooms...and so much more. As we found our way back to them again this year, they dug up the original film that started it all. The film has now been dubbed in Telugu. And we were told, also in Mandarin! No one has any idea of who did it...or how...but it warms our hearts to see that well over a decade later, this story is still continuing to gently find its way into people’s hearts, across languages and borders 💚

RE-IMAGINING LEADERSHIP (2/4)
For 30 years, best friends Tara and Basanti have been training women into leadership roles across villages in Uttarakhand. This film looks at shifts of power and beats ageism, in a fun way!

We produced a series of four short documentaries set in Uttarakhand and Odisha, where women in positions of leadership have completely transformed their communities. From the youngest woman sarpanch in Uttarakhand's modern history to two best friends in their 60's transforming the meaning of leadership in the mountains, these sets of stories were a pleasure to work on! A big shout out to The Hunger Project India for trusting us with these stories.

[Film 1: This is the story of a village in Uttarakhand, where the panchayat (leadership) council is entirely led by women, anchored in the story of one of the youngest panchayat leaders in recent memory!]
