'I am the Tiger' enjoys a welcome reception in Mumbai, followed by an eminent Shiv Nadar University, Delhi foray
July 24th & 25th / August 7th, 2014
The IATT (I am the Tiger) initiative spearheaded by Shivani Wazir Pasrich, witnessed its recent winning innings on July 24th, 2014 at the Maharashtra National Park, in Mumbai, where they performed for a group of 800 school students. The following day, they performed to a packed auditorium. The panelists included Bittu Saghal (Environmentalist and Editor of Sanctuary Asia), one of the most respected names in the world of conservation, Raghav Chandra (Author and Senior Bureaucrat), Dr. Parvish Pandya (Head of Natural History of Sanctuary Asia) and Brinda Malhotra (Head CSR at Aircel). This was followed by another discussion at the Shiv Nadar University where Shivani Wazir Pasrich and Vivek Menon (Director and CEO of Wildlife Trust of India) were in discussion and Gargi Rawat from NDTV was the moderator,
The performance was enjoyed by an enthusiastic group from the creative field including Gauri Khan, Joy Sen Gupta and Salone Roy Kapur, professionals from the corporate world like Nalin Nayyar, Head of India Investment Banking of Religare Capital, Deepali Talwar, General Council of Tata Steel, Rachna Chawla, Managing Consultant, YSC Business Psychologists and Mr Aditya Vikram Somani, Chairman of the Everest Group.
At the end of the performance Mrs Billamoria invited Shivani Wazir Pasrich to take the performance to Kasuli for the Book Week. Mr Chetan Dalal offered to facilitate taking the performance to Parliament for the Cabinet Members to view. Mr. Raghav Chandra was of the opinion that the IATT would enjoy a good showcase at the festivals of India abroad.
Shivani Wazir Pasrich has been the driving force behind Shivani Wazir Pasrich Production’s "I am the Tiger" project with all its many avatars. For the past two and a half years this project has been a focal point in her life. Her vision for this project is that it will bring together people who feel for the cause and will influence people to look at issues of concern in an empathetic way as they are directly impacted. Hence the use of "I". Perhaps in time to follow there will be an, "I am the Elephant" , "I am the Leopard" and eventually "I am the True Conservationist".
Shivani Wazir Pasrich would like to create a version of this work to showcase at Conservation and climate change conferences and drive policy decisions. ‘I am the Tiger’ will develop as "I am the Tiger, Meet my friend Ganesha, The Elephant ". Further, Shivani hopes to showcase the ":I am the Tiger" film on the "Bio Diversity Train" where 16 boogies carry the story of India's bio diversity and stop at platforms where people can board the train free of cost and experience at firsthand what responsible tourism means The effort is to use innovative existing platforms and make them effective with a dose of creativity
'I am the Tiger' is the story of Taqdeer (or Destiny), raised in the forest of Sarhi. His sister, Bachi is forced to fight for food to feed her cubs and is branded a “man- eater”. After seeing his uncle Banka, cruelly killed by hunters, Taqdeer is shattered. Love changes everything and Trisha his mate and he make a family of their own. Though the good times are short lived and Taqdeer ends up in a zoo in Delhi. Here a life of barren captivity, inhumane conditions and loneliness force him to the very brink of existence and madness.
The 'I am the Tiger' - Conservation Initiative seeks mass involvement. From tree planting in the immediate future to setting up the Conservation Dome in the long run. This will be a green area in the capital city where people can feel the forest, hear the forest, smell the forest....One stop where there will be performances, lectures, seminars and interactions on conversation. It is where you will find the answers to waste management like disposal of batteries, CFL bulbs, e waste and so on. It’s is a place you will call when you want to know how to stop someone from cutting a tree or when you want to share your simple innovation with others. Where your ideas don't start from scratch but you find support for ideas, projects and innovations among believers in a sustainable tomorrow.
At present Shivani Wazir Pasrich (Managing Director, SWP Productions) is in discussion with a diplomatic mission in New Delhi to present the performance later this year at the Embassy with Delhi's "A" list in attendance.
Says Shivani Wazir Pasrich, 'As you are aware, tiger numbers have fallen steadily each year since 1990. India now has fewer than 1,800 tigers alive in the wild. India is losing the tiger, and with it, the natural abundance the nation needs to survive. We can't just sit there counting numbers, we have to do our bit.'
