விநாயக சதுர்த்தி திருப்புகழ் இசை வழிபாடு 2024 செப்டம்பர் 7ஆம் தேதி ரமண கேந்திரம், மைலாப்பூரில் நடைபெற்றது. திருப்புகழ் பாட்டுகளின் அற்புதமான கச்சேரி இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியின் சிறப்பம்சமாக இருந்தது. பக்தர்களும் இசை ஆர்வலர்களும் ஒன்றிணைந்து, விநாயகர் பகவானின் புகழை பாடும் இந்த ஆன்மிக இசை நிகழ்வில் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

The 26th Shishu Utsav, an annual inter-school competition exclusively for kindergartens, was recently held at Kumara Rani's Chettinad Vidyalaya. The event was presided over by Dr. Meena Muthiah, the correspondent and secretary of the school. Principal Dr. S. Amudha Lakshmi, Headmistress P. Rajalakshmi, and Assistant Headmistress Gayathri N. distributed prizes to the winners.

The Utsav saw participation from 40 renowned schools with a total of 596 enthusiastic young participants. Every child received a gift and a certificate of appreciation. Trophies were awarded to the top three performers, with V Kids-T.S Krishna Nagar winning the winner's trophy and V Kids West securing the runner-up trophy.

The event featured both individual and group competitions, including activities like a Dress-up show, Vibrant Images, and Clay Modeling. Group events included a Happy Feet dance competition for LKG children and a Fantasy World-themed group dance for UKG children. The judges praised the enthusiastic and confident performances of the young participants.

PS Higher Secondary School recently held a convocation for students from 6th to 9th Standard who completed a Computer course under the IECD program in collaboration with Bharathidasan University. Certificates were awarded by the university.

Shyamala Jayaraman, the former VP of Ramco Systems, was the chief guest and delivered an engaging speech in both Tamil and English, emphasizing the importance of computer education. She discussed the transition from the mechanical age to the digital age.

Approximately 300 students received their certificates, with about 200 parents in attendance.

The 33 rd annual day of PS Matriculation Higher Secondary School in RK Math Road, Mylapore was celebrated with S Seetharaman, chairman of Super Auto Forge Private Limited at TAG Dakshinamurthy Auditorium recently. The school is a unit of PS
Educational Society.

Seetharaman urged the students to focus on their studies and strive for all round excellence. Dr KVS Gopalakrishnan, chairman of the Society presided
over the function. Prof T K Varadarajan, correspondent of the school and S Bhooma
principal attended the celebrations. Prizes were distributed to students.

Veteran stage actor and movie personality S Ve Shekher was honored with the Iyyakunar Sigaram K Balachander Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to Tamil stage plays spanning over 50 years.

The award was presented by K N Ramaswamy, secretary of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, in the presence of Justice K Jagadeesan, Nalli Kuppuswamy Chettiyar, and Kavithalaya Krishnan, who established the award. Shekher has staged over 7,000 plays, acted in 94 movies, and has more than 45 years of television experience. This marks his 16th Lifetime Achievement Award.

1992 Batch Alumni Extend Helping Hand

The 1992 alumni of Santhome Higher Secondary School have sponsored 46 students in both English and Tamil mediums this year, marking the sixth consecutive year of their support. This year, they spent Rs 2,16,000, according to Karthikeyan Balasubramani. The beneficiaries range from class 6 to 12. The check was presented to the school principal, Bro Arokiya Sahayaraj. Additionally, the alumni group, consisting of around 130 members with 75% participation, also supports Montford Academy by covering the fees for 13 students, handing a check to Bro Martin of the school.

Chettinad Vidyashram in MRC Nagar celebrated the 10th International Yoga Day with the theme "Prabhanjam Pranamaamyaham." The event, held on the school grounds, featured chief guest Swami Shashi Shikhanandaji of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mylapore.

Around 200 middle school students participated by performing Suryanamaskar, chanting Sanskrit ślokas, and showcasing various asanas. Krishnamoorthy, head of the Yoga department, demonstrated advanced asanas. Principal Dr. Amudha Lakshmi highlighted the importance of Yoga for mind-body alignment, and the chief guest emphasized its benefits for stress relief and overall well-being.

The event concluded with a performance of Chandranamaskar.

Naadhabrahmam United Gyan Academy marked a special occasion by honoring the Mridangam maestro, Guruvayur Durai, with the prestigious title of Naada Laya Shiromani on his 90th birthday. The award, presented by Justice V Lakshminarayanan of the Madras High Court, included a citation and a check for Rs 20,000.

Justice Lakshminarayanan eloquently highlighted Durai's legendary contributions to Carnatic music, drawing a fascinating parallel between the disciplines of law and music. He noted that both fields require dedication, respect for tradition, and an innovative spirit, and each operates within a structured framework that allows for creative interpretations.

In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Guruvayur Durai reminisced about performing with past and present legends, dedicating his honor to fellow artists. The celebration continued with a captivating vocal concert by Suchithra Balasubramanian, accompanied by Dr. D Badrinarayanan on the violin and Sai Raghavan on the mridangam.

Special thanks to TVKS Mani, former Dean of Social Sciences at Delhi University, for felicitating the awardee, and N Subramanian, advocate of the Madras High Court and founder of Naadhabrahmam, for welcoming the gathering.

Vidwan Saketharaman is embarking on an innovative venture in Carnatic music called Carnatify, which aims to demonstrate that Carnatic music predates all other music genres. Carnatify explores the interplay between Carnatic and Western music. Over 200 students from his Kalashiksha School will showcase this theme, highlighting Indo-colonial Nottuswarams and Western rhymes in multilingual songs.

Kalashiksha School, supported by PS Senior School Mylapore and Bharatiya Vidyalaya School in Medavakkam, focuses on instilling devotion and culture through music. Students will perform unique renditions of themes from Jurassic Park and Harry Potter, as well as Bella Ciao in a Carnatic format.

Saketharaman aims to redefine Carnatic music as adaptable and inclusive of various emotions and genres. Carnatify helps listeners and students rediscover and take pride in Carnatic music.

The event will honor Gnananandha Bhajana Mandali Satsang and Nadaswaram Vidwan Thirumayilai Varamurthy with special awards. Sponsored by Kauvery Hospital and Rmkv Wedding Silks, Carnatify will be held at Narada Gana Sabha in Alwarpet on June 30 at 6 PM, with Sangita Kalanidhi Thiruvarur Bakthavatsalam presiding and S. Mahalingam, former CFO of TCS, as the guest of honor.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, East Mada Street, Mylapore, Chennai-600 004, is celebrating Iyakkunar Sigaram K. Balachander’s 95th birthday with the “Pancha Mugham” Drama Festival from July 4th to July 9th, 2024. The festival, featuring five dramas, will be held at the Main Auditorium.

The inauguration ceremony is on July 4th at 6:00 PM, with Sri N. Ravi, Chairman of Bhavan’s Chennai Kendra, presiding, and Dr. Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti, Vice-Chairman of Bhavan’s Chennai Kendra, as the Guest of Honour. Sri S. Ve. Shekher will receive the Iyakkunar Sigaram K. Balachander Award.

Drama schedule:
- July 4th: UAA presents Sri Y Gee Mahendra in “Peking Pichumani in Ithu Nyayama Sir?”
- July 5th: Stage Creations presents Sri Kathadi Ramamurthy in “Pillayar Pidikka..”
- July 6th: Natakhapriya presents Sri S. Ve. Shekher in “Alwhaa”
- July 8th: United Visuals presents Sri TV. Varadharajan & Team in “LKG Aasai”
- July 9th: Crazy Creations presents Sri Madhu Balaji in Crazy Mohan’s “Meesai Aanalum Manaivi”

All dramas will be staged at 6:30 PM. The events are open to all.

Philomena and Perumal of Santhome have a daily routine of arriving near Santhome Church in an autorickshaw, not for leisure, but with a noble mission. They come with a 50-liter bucket of food to feed the eagerly waiting street dogs. Instead of simply throwing the food on the ground, they lovingly serve and encourage the dogs to eat, even patting them on the back. This act of kindness brings immense satisfaction to Perumal, who remarks on the difficulty street dogs face in asking for food.
