Iconic Rambha Palace After Restoration Inaugurated By CM @Naveen_Odisha
From hosting the first Utkal Sammellani to welcoming esteemed dignitaries such as Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, the palace has played a significant role in shaping the Odia identity, says CM Patnaik
"As we stand here today, after five years of meticulous restoration, led by the prominent architect Channa Daswatte- protege turned friend of Geoffrey Bawa, and with Intach's suggestions on restoration, the palace displays intricate crafts, textiles and weaves, sourced from artisans and weavers across Odisha, highlighting the diverse handicrafts and handlooms of our state. From Sabai artisans from Baleshwar to Ikkat from Bargarh, and under-represented artforms like Kotpad tribal textiles, the palace showcases an eclectic mix of interiors sourced from various districts, offering visitors a glimpse into the diverse material culture of Odisha", CM said in his address
"I would also like to congratulate and commend the Khalikhote family and the Late Rani Saheba Sugnana Kumari Deo, a strong leader, who dedicated her life in service to her people, for their astute vision that led to the restoration of this iconic palace and gave it a new relevance in modern day Odisha"
"The creation of this Palace Hotel, allows Odisha to welcome visitors from across the world to experience the unique ecosystem and biodiversity of Chilika Lake, a Ramsar and Unesco World Heritage Site"
